A Little Time and a Keyboard: Chilling at the St. Joseph Magical Ice Festival, St. Joseph, Michigan Feb. 10-12

Chilling at the St. Joseph Magical Ice Festival, St. Joseph, Michigan Feb. 10-12

For a quick weekend away, we love to wander up to Harbor Country in Michigan.  On one trip, we discovered a really interesting  Ice Carving Festival in St. Joseph, Michigan.  This annual festival is being held in St. Joseph this weekend.

During the festival, you get to watch the artists carve amazing pieces of art from ice blocks.  Some of the creations are just amazing.  I am normally not a cold weather person.  However, some of the work is so impressive that even I can muster the strength to walk through the festival.  Just take a look at the carving of the space shuttle below.  Amazing!

In addition to the central attraction, there are other festival events at different venues throughout St. Joseph including live music, a magician, face painting, and ice skating.

Walking through St. Joseph itself is quite a pleasure.  There are many small stores to wind in and out of.  Of course, one of the St. Joseph shops that I must always stop in is the South Bend Chocolate Company.  How can anyone resist their tempting chocolates and desserts?

The St. Joseph Magical Ice Festival is a great little winter diversion.  While you are there, you can also warm up at some of the wineries in the area.  We always do!  If you are interested in going take a look at the St. Joseph website.
