A Little Time and a Keyboard: Our Adventure in Iceland

Our Adventure in Iceland

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

Years ago, my husband and I saw teams racing through Iceland on The Amazing Race. We could not believe how unique and beautiful the country is. We knew that we had to go! This year, we were able to go on our adventure (complete with little one in tow).

We loved Iceland and found it to be beautiful, original, and pristine. The people were some of the friendliest that I have ever met. We were based in Reykjavik for our journey and found the city to be very child-friendly.

Over the next few weeks, I will share some of our experiences. Here are some pictures to show you what we experienced.

Our drive through part of Southern Iceland was full of breathtaking landscapes.

Iceland has many natural wonders. Here is Stokkur. The geyser goes off every 10-15 minutes.

Reykjavik is a very walkable city. We spent quite a bit of time walking throughout the city. I am actually going through walking withdrawal!

Who can go to Iceland without witnessing the spirit of Viking horses?

We loved visiting the Botanical Gardens which had an unbelievable number of plants growing in between rocks:
We enjoyed hiking around the Blue Lagoon. Of course, we also took a dip! It was amazing to be out in our swimsuits in 50-60 degree weather. (Yes, we had 50-60 degrees while those in the US had temperatures toppling over 100. We couldn't have planned it better!)

Overall, we did take about 1000 pictures while in Iceland. Most came out just as beautiful as the next. I will have more treasures to share in future posts. Iceland is amazing and I look forward to sharing more!
