We have another busy weekend ahead of us! There are a lot of cool events to choose from so here are some that we see:
This isn't really for this weekend, but today, August 15, the WTTW Kids Readers are Leaders with Miss Lori's Campus van will be at Deer Park Center near Barnes&Noble at 10:30 AM. The fun will include music,
dancing, and story time, all for free! Plus, mom or dad can get some shopping done after!
August 16th is Family Movie Night in Palatine. Puss in Boots will be playing at the Fred P Hall Amphitheater at 8PM. This event is free!
Whole Foods in Palatine is having a Country Market on Saturday from 11AM-3PM. You can sample local
products, listen to live music, support Lost Dogs, and watch Flint Creek Wildlife's birds of prey demonstration from 11AM-1PM.
August 18th is also the Chinese Moon Festival and Tea Ceremony at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library from 2PM-3:30PM. This event is open to AHML card holders. You must register at www.ahml.info. The event is free.
Many people will be abuzz with the Chicago Air and Water Show at North Avenue Beach this weekend in Chicago. The event will be from 10AM-3PM each day with free admission!
Also, August 18&19, the Chicago Botanic Garden will be hosting a Japanese Garden Summer Festival. From 10AM-3PM each day, there will be storytelling, drum and harp performances, and crafts. Parking at the Garden is $20 and the event is free.
Arlington Heights will be having A Walk in the Park Summer Art Fair at North School Park from 10AM-5PM on August 19th. We attended this event last year and there was a healthy number of artisans, so plenty of art to observe and purchase. Also, there were a couple of activities for kids. There is a playground at the park that few kids can resist.
With the new school year upon us, it seems like a great time to hone our kids' safety skills. On August 19, Schaumburg will have a Sunday at Safety Park at the Pat Shephard Center from
1:00PM-3:00PM. The event is for children ages 3-7 accompanied by adult. The cost is $10 for the 1st child, $5 each additional.
To cap off your weekend, there is Community Move Night featuring Goonies on Sunday at BMO Harris Bank in Palatine The excitement starts at 6PM with children's activities. There will be food for purchase. The movie and activities are free. The movie will start about 8PM.
