A Little Time and a Keyboard: Shades of Autumn at Stade's in McHenry

Shades of Autumn at Stade's in McHenry

The petting zoo has plenty of space to move around.
Pumpkins and brightly colored leaves are everywhere! Fall is in the air and with the beautiful weather last weekend, we took a drive to Stade's Farm and Market to have some fall fun at their Shades of Autumn.

Stade's has all sorts of places to play: a tire pyramid, a corn maze, petting zoo, inflatable horse racing, mountain slides, duck races, corn playing area, and more! Of course, you can also take a hayride out to the pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin!

There was so much to do, that my daughter could have played for hours! She especially loved the corn maze where we had to find the answers to some trivia questions within the maze in order to earn a pumpkin. She also loved driving a pedal car. She enjoyed racing around the course!

Stade's also had a pumpkin cannon that was used to fire pumpkins at cars. This definitely was a crowd favorite!

Everyone likes to climb the tire pyramid!
Of course, Stade's has plenty of fresh produce to choose from. Additionally, there are baked goods and other food vendors. (We could not resist making a purchase from a chocolate shop.) There are also a few crafters there for you to peruse.
Firing the cannon!

What I loved about Stade's is that we paid an admission fee and that paid for most of the entertainment (with the exception of the combine tour). We did not have to deal with buying tickets--yay! Since my daughter could enjoy the attractions as much as she liked, the deal was sweetened, Admission costs $15 (ages 3-17), $10 (ages 18-64), $5  65 and over). Shades of Autumn is running on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in October from 10AM-6PM. The festival will also be open on Columbus Day.

Stade's is located at 3709 Miller Road in McHenry, Illinois.

  1. We went to Stade's Farm last year and we also had a blast! Unfortunately, back then they were still using tickets so we spent more than we wanted. I loved the hayride to the field and picking up pumpkins.

  2. I think that the arm band was a good idea. It really did cap spending. Also, if you spend less on the attractions, you have more money to spend on items at the market.

  3. Unfortunately, adults also have to pay the 10 bucks just to walk around with their kids, which is a total rip off, in my opinion.

  4. Honestly, for us it was reasonable. We (my husband and I) did go on the pedal cars and go through the corn maze and petting zoo with my daughter. We each received a small pumpkin for answering all of the questions during the corn maze. Additionally, my daughter could participate in the activities as many times as she would like. We spent over that at another pumpkin farm this year to go to the zoo and allow our daughter 1 ride. Of course, cost does often depend on the age of your child and how much you would like to do.
