Wednesday Weekend Windup

Enchanted Railroad
Busy, busy, busy. That pretty much sums up our days around here lately. There is so much to do and not enough time to do it in! Of course, come January, we will be painstakingly looking for activities to do. So, we will enjoy the next month of craziness!

There are going to be a ton of fun events this weekend! Here are some that caught our eye:

Saturday, December 1

Longfellow Elementary School in Buffalo Grove will be holding its Holiday Craft Fair from 9:00AM-3:00PM. Admission is free. There will be all sorts of crafts and vendors as well as a bake sale. There will also be a special Kids' Holiday Shoppe where kids will be able to look for their own gifts. Children will be caroling to further add to the fun event!

On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a Winter Wonderland at the Frisbie Senior Center in Des Plaines. The event will run from 10:00AM-4:00PM both days. Santa will be available for free pictures! There will be model trains, kids' crafts, face painting and more. Entertainment will include a magician, a Siberian Husky demonstration, dance, and more. Check here for details and a schedule.

Santa will also be appearing at the Holiday Open House at the Friendship Park Conservatory in Des Plaines. The free event will run from 11:00AM-3:00PM on Saturday. Other fun will include a snow hay ride, a visit with reindeer, refreshments, and music.

Barrington will be fully in the holiday spirit during a host of holiday events from 10:00AM-7:00PM on Saturday. Of course, the lighting of the tree and the big man's arrival will be among the highlights. A special holiday trolley will be available to transport you between the events. There will be reindeer, a petting zoo, carolers, a Nutcracker performance, a story read by Mrs. Claus and more during these free events. Please check the Village of Barrington website for all of the deets.

Volkening Heritage Farm in Schaumburg will be holding its annual Christmas in the Valley on Saturday and Sunday from 12PM-4PM. We have been to this event before and loved it! The farm will be alive with all sorts of old-fashioned Christmas fun. When we went, my daughter was able to help make some cookies. We visited the Merkle cabin to see Chris Kringle and join in a children's craft. There was a toy maker whittling wooden toys. My daughter absolutely loved that! The event costs $2 pp and $8 for families 6 and fewer ($2 each additional person beyond that).

Brilliant Sky Toys & Books at the Deer Park Town Center will be having a free child's craft from 1:00PM-3:00PM. We love our holiday crafts!

Sunday, December 2

Don't forget the Christmas in the Valley Event in Schaumburg and the Winter Wonderland in Des Plaines.

Knupper Nursery in Palatine will be having free pictures with Santa from 1:00PM-3:00PM. Don't forget your camera!

If you are still looking for more this weekend, you can also visit The Enchanted Railroad at the Morton Arboretum or the Wonderland Express at Chicago Botanic Garden.
