Awhile ago, a colleague of mine gave me the scoop on Bass Pro Shops. She told me about their special Christmas and Easter events. (They are free, of course!) The shops in our area are not particularly close to my home, so I never made the trip. Last weekend, we finally decided to stop in and check it out.
When we walked in, we were immediately amazed as the store seemed to unfold before us. There was so much to look at! Besides merchandise, there are woodsy scenes, a large aquarium, a brook, and a waterfall. My daughter was immediately in awe. There also was an arcade and shooting gallery. (We steered away from the arcade because my daughter does not handle it well when she cannot figure out an arcade game.)
The stores do have a Fish Feeding Frenzy a couple of times a week where kids can watch the fish being fed. You can check with your local store for times. When we were at Bass Pro Shops, they had a little clinic showing kids how to cast a fishing rod. My daughter had fun doing that! You can also schedule a free tour by contacting the store. I am sure some kiddos will love that!
The store has so many components to it. You could really spend some time there! Besides having boatloads of outdoors merchandise, the store also has a restaurant and a fudge cart. (The fudge cart has my name on it for the next time we come in.)
Make sure to watch out for Bass Pro Shops Easter events. Last year, they had photos with the Easter Bunny, crafts, and Easter egg hunts. Easter will be here before we know it! There are three stores in our area: Gurnee, Bolingbrook, and Portage, IN.
