Wednesday Weekend Windup
Looking ahead to the weekend, there are a number of fun activities in our neck of the woods coming up!
Saturday, March 2
Get up close and personal with a critter at the Critter Connection, at the Wildwood Nature Center in Park Ridge. The free event starts at 10:15AM. There is also an animal feeding at 10:30AM and don't forget to check out the Nature's Nook for activities and books to read.
For the train lovers out there, there will be a Model Railroad Run at the Indian Trails Public Library in Wheeling from 12PM-4PM. Model trains will be running for fans. The event is free! I like events like this that are easy and entertaining!
The Rainbow Therapy Dogs will be visiting The Book Market at the Glen Town Center in Glenview from 10:30AM-11:30AM. The therapy dogs will help teach dog safety. The drop-in event is free! The Book Market also has quite a collection of books, so plan to spend a little time browsing.
Kids will be buying and selling items at the For Kids Only Flea Market held at the Jewett Park Community Center in Deerfield from 1PM-3PM. Check with park district for info on participating if your kids would like to sell. The event sounds like fun!
I am sure that dinosaur lovers would have fun at Dinosaur Discoveries at the Lizzadro Museum in Elmhurst. The event will be from 2PM-3PM on Saturday. Live animals, fossils, and props will be used to learn about dinosaur characteristics. Admission is $4 per nonmember, $2 per member, for those 4 and older.
Palatine is having A Seuss Celebration at Birchwood Gym from 6:00PM-9:00PM. The fun will include a craft and The Lorax screening. Preregistration is required. The event costs $10 per family. You can call 847-991-0333 for help registering.
Saturday and Sunday will bring the Ice Meltin' Blues festivities to Long Grove. There will be various Blues Acts entertaining the town at different venues. Why not have dinner while listening to the blues? Check the schedule for more info.
Sunday, March 3
Kids Fest will be livening up the Oak Park Conservatory in Oak Park from 12:00PM-4:00PM. Visitors will be celebrating the "Happy Bird Day" of resident parrot George. There also will be hands-on educational experiences and the chance explore tropical rain forest and other eco-climates. The event is free!
How about snowshoeing at Spring Valley Nature Center in Schaumburg? Read our previous post for details. We loved snowshoeing last year. It was so peaceful and the scenery was beautiful!
Toddling Around Chicagoland has a list of Dr. Seuss Birthday Events to check out.
Don't forget about the Wonderful Wizard of Oz exhibit at the Kohl Children's Museum.
