Wednesday Weekend Windup

Are you enjoying the weather today? The last few days have just been gorgeous! However, I fear that this may be a little short-lived based on weather predictions. Currently, there are some showers predicted for this weekend. With any luck, they will dissipate! There are so many fun things to do outdoors this weekend!

Here are the fun things we found for this weekend:

Weekend long events

May 3-5 the Chocolate Fest will be in full swing in Long Grove. The event will include music, family activities, and, of course, chocolate! The event costs $5 per person and kids under 12 are free. You will get a $5 coupon to spend in Long Grove during a future visit. Check Long Grove Chocolate Fest for more details as well as special merchant promotions. When Long Grove has a festival, parking can sometimes be challenging. I recommend arriving earlier rather than later.

May 4-5 Elmhurst will be holding its Art in the Park at Wilder Park from 10AM-5PM each day. There will be artists and kids art activities during the free event! Wilder Mansion will be open 11AM-2PM and there will be free admission to the Elmhurst Art Museum (10AM-5PM each day).

Saturday, May 4

Free Comic Day will be at the Mt. Prospect Public Library. Kids can receive free comic books while supplies last. For other local stores and libraries participating, check Free Comic Day.

Big Trucks will be amazing kids in Palatine in the Family Aquatic Center Parking Lot. From 11:00AM-1:00PM, kids get to see trucks up close. The event is free!

Bike Glenview Craft with Make-a-Messterpiece will be a fun drop in event at The Book Market in The Glen Town Center. The event runs from 10:30AM-11:30AM and kids can make license plates for their bikes. The event is free.

Barrington Kids Fest will be bringing fun to Citizens Park in Barrington. Fom 11:00AM-3:00PM kids can explore nature and fly kites. There will be free kite for each kid. The event is free but there will be snacks for purchase.

There will be a  Star Wars Extravaganza at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library from 1:00PM-3:00PM. The event will include games, food and surprises. The free event is drop in.

Sunday, May 5

You can join a Bird Walk at Air Station Prairie in Glenview. The event runs from 9AM-11AM. Meet at Tyner Interpretive Center to join. Bring binoculars and bird guides. Remember to dress for the weather for this free event!

  1. Thanks! I had that Big Trucks thing on my calendar and I also LOVE the Lilac Fest so we may try that too.
