Where has the time gone? School starts next week! In true Chicago fashion, today feels like Fall. The temperature was 66 degrees when I left for work. Really??? If it does warm up for the weekend, you may want to consider visiting one of the pools or heading to the beach. Many of the pools will be closing soon, if they have not already. It is crunch time!

Thursday, August 15
Why not enjoy a Summer Picnic at Volkening Lake in Schaumburg from 5:30PM-7:30PM. There will be an inflatable, carnival games, a face painter and a hot dog or brat dinner. There is a $3 cost per meal (hot dog or brat,
chips & soda) and a $2 activity band.
Palatine will be holding a Family Movie Night featuring Despicable Me at the Fred P. Hall Amphitheater. The movie begins at dusk and the event is free!
Friday, August 16
If you miss the movie on Thursday, try Movie in the Park: Hotel Transylvania at Recreation Park in Arlington Heights from 6:30PM-10:00PM. The movie starts at
8:30PM. There will be a bouncy house and other games. Bring a picnic, blanket and chairs. Admission is free!
Saturday, August 17
The Mt. Prospect Family Bike Ride will be at Melas Park. Registration starts at 9:00AM. There will be raffle prizes along with the ride. See form for more details.
I just found out about the Educational Gardens at Whole Foods! This Saturday, visit the Pizza Garden of Whole Foods Market Schaumburg at the Educational Garden Plots located at 1675 E.
Old Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg. The event is at 10:00AM. Your family will learn how to grow pizza
ingredients at Whole Food's Interactive Garden. Whole Foods' resident
green thumb will guide your family. The event is free!
How about the Free Open Gym Rhythm Gymnastics Instruction with
Head Coach and Olympian Olena Vitrychenko for some fun? The event is being held at the Illinois Rhythmic Gymnastics
Center in Highland Park from 10AM-11AM. The free fun includes dance, rhythmic gymnastics, games
The Lincolnshire Art Festival will be held at the Village Green in Lincolnshire from 10AM-5PM on Saturday and Sunday. The event will include art, kids activities, live music and entertainment. Admission is free!

Visit the A Walk in the Park Summer Art Fair at North School Park in Arlington Heights from 10:00AM-5:00PM. The fair will include local artists,
a juried art fair and a classical guitarist. There will be ice cream for purchase. Free
There will be a Library Open House
at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library from 1PM-3PM. See the
renovations to the library, visit with local authors, food demos, meet
a local artist and play math games. There will be giveaways and drawings. The event is free!
Naper Settlement in Naperville will be holding Settlement Sunday from 1:00PM-4:00PM. There will be demonstrations, family
activities, tours and free ice cream sundaes (2:00PM-3:30PM, free with
admission). Admission is $12 per adult, $8 child 4-12, under 4 free!
