Wednesday Weekend Windup {get out those costumes}


Have your little ones already donned those costumes? My daughter has sported hers at a couple of
functions. I really love this time of year! We love to get our house all spookified for the big day! My husband and I loved decorating our house for Halloween before our daughter was born. However, it is a lot more fun now that we get to do it with her! Of course, the dogs are not sure why we put out the decorations that we do. I suppose a cackling witch and flying ghosts can be a little disconcerting!

There is a lot of Halloween fun and plenty of opportunities to show off those costumes this weekend. Check out what we found:

 Friday, October 25

Have fun at Trunk-or-Treat at the Arlington Heights Public Works Building from 6:30PM-8:30PM. Check out the decked out cars, snag some treats and enjoy crafts, inflatables and more. Event costs $10 per child at the door.

Friday and Saturday bring Halloween Hoopla to Jewett Park in Deerfield. The event runs from 7:00PM-9:00PM in the evening including DJ music, a bonfire, a movie, the JCC Haunted House ($5) and more. The event is free. however there is a $5 fee for the Haunted House. Saturday afternoon there is also an event from 3:00PM-6:00PM. Admission to this is $5 and  includes inflatables, costumed characters, hayrides, arts and crafts and more. There is a $3 additional fee for the lights-on haunted house. Saturday, October 26

Visit Faith Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights for Pumpkin Carving and Poochamungas from 9AM-11AM. Bring your pumpkin and tools will be provided. Listen to Poochamungas, a children's band and have a snack! The event is free!

Head over to Des Plaines for Halloween Hoopla from 10:00AM-4:00PM. The free event includes a costume contest at 10AM, a craft at Des Plaines History Center from 11AM-4PM and a craft at the library from 1PM-3PM.

Trick-or-Treat at Mariano's in Palatine or Arlington Heights from 10AM-2PM. There will also be a coloring contest.

The Mount Prospect Public Library will be holding Super Saturday: Groovin' with Ajanta Bollywood Style from 11:00AM-11:45AM. Experience Indian dance and learn a basic dance with kids. The event is free but you do need to register. **We have been to Super Saturdays in the past and have really loved them.**

Bring your kids furry and not in costume to have Halloween fun during the Arbooretum at the Arboretum Shops in South Barrington from 11AM-1PM. The free event will include trick-or-treating, face painting, hayrides, a dog costume contest and more! There will also be a Halloween maze for a small donation.

The Pediatric Celiac Center at Advocate Children's Hospital in Park Ridge will be having a fun Gluten-free Halloween Open House from12PM-2PM. Come in costume for gluten-free trick-or-treating, food and candy and raffles. Admission and parking are free. You can register at 1-800-3-ADVOCATE with class code 1C39. Walk-ins are welcome.

Have a Green Halloween at Whole Foods Market in Schaumburg from 12:00PM-4:00PM. Enjoy an eco-friendly scavenger hunt, crafts, natural sweets, costume trade and more! The event is free!

Enjoy Halloween in the Gallery at Paper Crown Gallery in Arlington Heights from 1:00PM-2:30PM. There will be a costume parade, pumpkin decorating, art project, treats and more. The event costs $12 per child, accompanying adults are free. You must register. See post  We are giving away a family pack of tickets to these events! Enter through October 24!

Attend Northbrook Court's Halloween Party from 1:00PM-3:00PM. There will be a costume contest, music, dancing, crafts and more. The event is free!

Wander through River Trail Nature Center in Northbrook and visit the The Un-Haunted Forest Saturday and Sunday from 1:30PM-2:30PM. Come in costume for a magical hike and a Halloween treat. The event costs $1 per child. Advance registration is required. Contact: 847-824-8360.

Listen to spooky sounds during the Scare-illon Concert at Millennium Carillon in Naperville from 7PM-8PM. Listen to both popular and classic scary music. There will also be dancers! The event is free!

Sunday, October 27 

Visit Whole Foods Market in Northbrook for Extreme Trick-or-Treating from 11AM-2PM. The event is storewide. There will be face painting, pumpkin decorating and more in Lifestyle Center. The event is free! Plus---you can get your shopping done at the same time! 

There will be a Halloween Happening at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion in Naperville from 1PM-4PM. The event is geared towards kids 10 and under. The fun will included themed lands with treats and treasures, games and activities and more. The event is free!

Stop by Geneva Common for  a little Trick-or-Treat from 3:00PM-4:30PM. The event is free.
