I just checked on my garden this afternoon and we already have some small cucumbers! My husband makes sushi rolls at home, so I am sure we will use a bunch of our cucumbers in our sushi! Hope your gardens are growing well!

Friday, June 27
Get in the Fourth of July spirit with Create-a-Craft Hooray for the U.S.A. at the Mt. Prospect Public Library from 11:30AM-5:00PM. Make patriotic crafts for free at the library!
Looking for a vet or are the kids curious about becoming a veterinarian? Head over to the Open House and Ribbon Cutting at Loving Care Animal Hospital in Palatine at 12PM for the ribbon cutting at their new facility. There will be an open house, refreshments, raffles and tours until 3PM for free!
Get your fairy wings on for the Pixie Dust Party at the Barrington Dance Academy from 1:00PM-2:15PM. Kids will dance and play to the music of Tinkerbell. There will also be a special appearance by Tinkerbell herself!The event is free but call to RSVP. The event is geared towards those ages 3-6.
Enjoy a pleasant summer evening at Family Fun Night at Blackberry Farm in Aurora. The event runs 7PM-10PM and includes family games, a campfire, rides, an outdoor movie (this week is The Sandlot) and more. Bring blankets and lawn chairs for the movie. You can even bring a picnic! The event costs $5 pp at the door. There also will be other Family Fun Nights July 11 and 25.

Enjoy ambling through the Summer Festival in Glenview from 9:30AM-5:30PM. There will be a street sale, arts and crafts sale, food from local restaurants and live entertainment with free admission!
Appreciate the arts at The Art Center's Festival of Fine Craft in Highland Park Saturday and Sunday 10AM-5PM. Artists will be exhibiting and selling art. There also will be live entertainment, kids activities, mini art classes, a silent auction and food vendors. Admission is free!
Ready for a road trip? Starting Saturday through the end of July, experience the world of Laura Ingalls Wilder during The World of Little House at Old World Wisconsin in Eagle, Wisconsin. Check schedule of weekly events. Admission is $16 per adult, $9 kids 5-17, under 5 free, students and seniors $14, family rates available. Those who dress as a Little House character will receive $2 off of admission.
Enjoy some inner peace during Yoga with Kids in the Park at Hasbrook Park in Arlington Heights at 1PM. You are invited to bring your mat or a towel or enjoy the Earth. The class is taught by Kimberly Brown and is free!
Learn a little history during World War II Day at the Elk Grove Historical Museum from 1PM-5PM. Visit with reenactors camped at the museum and check out artifacts for free!
Pitch a tent for the 3rd Annual Family Camp Out at Prairie Lakes Park in Des Plaines from 6PM-9AM. Bring your camping gear to camp out and enjoy a night of fun under the stars. Activities, breakfast and snacks are provided. There must be at least 1 adult per 4 children required, ages 4 and up. The cost is $10pp resident, $12.50 per nonresident.
Love chasing fireflies? Enjoy Firefly Fandango at the Vera Meineke Nature Center in Schaumburg from 8:45PM-9:45PM on Saturday. The event includes a drop in program to learn about how fireflies make their light and a twilight hayride. Beverages are included. The event costs $12 per resident family of 4 or less, $16 for nonresident family of four or less. Arrive early to register.
