It really hurts to be typing 'August' right now. We have a lot of family fun coming up this month but it just seems to have come too fast! Hopefully, the good weather will stick with us and everyone will have a FANTASTIC weekend!
If you are short on ideas for fun, here are a few:
Take the dogs for a walk in the park at the Canine Carnival at the Fred P Hall Amphitheater in Palatine from 6:00PM-7:30PM. The event will include vendors, raffles, prizes and games. Admission is $8 per dog. You must pre-register so check the site for more info!

Friday, August 1
Who let the turtles out? Join the annual Turtle Trek Turtle Races at Twin Lakes in Palatine from 6:30PM. $5 per turtle, free to watch. Contact email@example.com to reserve turtle--there is a limited number.
Get a snack at the Food Truck Frenzy at the Family Aquatic Center Parking Lot in Palatine from 5PM-8PM. The band 7th Heaven will play at 8PM.
Saturday, August 2
If you still have to hit an art festival this summer or if you love to check them all out, the Glencoe Art Festival is in Glencoe Saturday and Sunday from 10AM-5PM. There will be art, live music, kids activities, a scavenger hunt and more. Admission is free!
The Morton Arboretum is the place to be this weekend for the Destination Asia Summer Festival. Check out our previous post for more detailed information on this event. There will also be an Art in the Garden Event in the Children's Garden with demos and mini workshops from 11AM-4PM!You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown will be the Theatre-Hike for this weekend.
Travel to The World of Faeries in South Elgin from 10AM-7PM Sat and 10AM-5PM Sun. There will be faerie workshops, a faerie tea party, a bubble wonder show, music, vendors and more. Admission is $11 per adults, $8 per senior, free for kids 12 and under. Check schedule.
If you miss the canine fun on Thursday, check out Dog Days at Cantigny Park in Wheaton on Saturday from 10AM-4PM. The fun includes agility demos, a play area, vendors and more. Your dog must play well with others and have current vaccinations and rabies tag. Admission is free but there is a $5 per car parking fee. Also, there is a $5 stuff a dog activity for kids.
Enjoy some farm fun at the Country Farm Fair at the Wildwood Nature Center in Park Ridge from 12PM-3PM. The fun includes bingo, pig races, hayrides ($.50), pony rides ($5), petting zoo and more. Free admission!
Explore Japanese culture at the Summer Bon Dance Festival at Mitsuwa Market Place in Arlington Heights on Saturday from 2PM-8:30PM. Enjoy dance, balloon scooping, a treasure hunt, food vendors and more. See schedule.
