The weekend is almost here! Of course, this means that we need find ways to keep the kiddos busy! Good thing that there are a bunch of fun things to do this weekend and even some special events for Mother's Day!

May 9 Annual Arts & Crafts Adventure, Hodges Park, Park Ridge, 9AM-3PM, variety of artisans with art for sale, demos throughout the day, free admission
May 9 Model Railroad Opens, Chicago Botanic Gardens, open 10AM-5PM daily through Oct 25, $6 per adult, $5 per senior, $4 kids 3-12, under 3 free, members have $1 discount, parking $30 per car on weekends, $25 during week, parking free for members
May 9 Spring Fever Reliever, Riverwalk, Naperville, 10AM-2PM, free kids activities, 1/2 price paddleboat and kayak rentals
May 9 Indian Dance featuring Kalapriya, Mt. Prospect Public Library, 11AM-11:45AM, an instructor from the Kalapriya Indian Dance School will demonstrate a colorful form of dance called Bharata Nataym, families in the audience will also have an opportunity to participate, free but you must register
May 9 Civil War Day, Depot Museum, Itasca, 12PM-3PM, learn about weaponry, enjoy crafts, games and songs, presented by Living Historians Guild and Taylor's Battery, free
May 9 Mother's Day Tea, Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 1PM-2PM, for kids ages 4-8 and their moms, sample tea or pink lemonade and cookies, make a craft, enjoy live music, capture the moment in a photo booth, free but must register, no card necessary.
May 9 Live Auction Cake Sale, Norton's U.S.A., Barrington, preview at 2;45PM and auction at 3:00PM, freshly baked cakes auctioned off to benefit Barrington Relay for Life, 100% of proceeds donated to charity.

May 10 Mother's Day Celebration, Volkening Heritage Farm, Schaumburg, 11AM-3PM, farm open 10AM-4PM, kids can make mom a free card from 11AM-3PM in visitor's center, free
May 10 Mother's Day at Blackberry Farm, Aurora, 11AM-5PM, enjoy live entertainment and activities throughout the park, first 150 moms receive a flower, resident adults $5, kids/seniors $4.50, under 2 free, non resident $8 and $7 respectively
May 10 Are You My Mother?, Crabtree Nature Center, 12PM-4PM, drop-in program, try to match baby animals with their mothers, free
