A Little Time and a Keyboard: 100 Days of Summer, 100 Days of Hope Red Cross Blood Drive Comes to Brookfield Zoo August 5th

100 Days of Summer, 100 Days of Hope Red Cross Blood Drive Comes to Brookfield Zoo August 5th

Thursday, July 30, 2015

The American Red Cross and Suburban Propane are teaming up this summer to help prevent and a blood and platelet shortage during this busy season. They are setting up community blood drives throughout the country and will be in our area next Wednesday, August 5th. With summer being so busy and many donors on vacation, it can be a tough time to maintain adequate levels of donations. The American Red Cross' 100 Days of Summer, 100 Days of Hope campaign will be encouraging communities to be involved in blood donation and awareness throughout this summer.

Some motivating stats:

Brookfield Zoo Blood Donation Event:

On Wednesday August 5 from 9AM-4PM, the American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at Brookfield Zoo in the Discovery Center. Participants that pre-register will receive free day of admission to the zoo for one adult and up to two children as well as free parking in the Discovery Center Lot. To be eligible, you must pre-register at redcrossblood.org or by calling 1-800-733-2767 and use sponsor code: Brookfield Zoo. Walk-in donors will receive free return admission to the zoo. The zoo asks that donors enter through the South Gate (3300 Golf Rd) and show confirmation to security. Then, follow the signs to the Discovery Center Parking Lot. Free childcare will be provided for donors during donation. PLUS, Blood Drive Sponsor Suburban Propane will be providing a cookout for donors!

100 Days of Summer, 100 Days of Hope provides a great reminder about how we can work together as a community to positively impact more lives. If you are interested in donating but cannot make it to the event, contact the Red Cross for another location/time. #ChooseYourDay
