Wednesday Weekend Windup {Holiday Lights,Owls, Star Wars, Crafts & More}

With all the kiddos amped up with anticipation, it is time to plan some activities to help them use that energy! Here are some picks for this weekend:
Ongoing:
  • November 20-January 2 Illumination at the Morton Arboretum, daily 5PM-9:30PM (last entry 8:30PM) EXCEPT Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the following Mondays: November 23, November 30, December 7, and December 14, amazing interactive light experience in the trees and woven in nature, ticket prices vary upon day, see website for more information, one of our favorite events of the year!
Friday, November 20:
  • November 20 Winter Lights Festival, Water Street Mall, Aurora, 5PM-9PM, holiday parade, pop up shops, Santa, tree lighting, fire works and more, free, see schedule!
  • November 20-22 Chicago Toy and Game Fair, Navy Pier, Chicago, play with all sorts toys and games, preview new ones, meet inventors, plenty more to do, tickets are $10 per adult, $5 per child (3-12), purchase online
  • November 20 Owl Prowl, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 7PM (check in at 6:45PM), warm up with hot chocolate and some snacks, hike in search of owls, must register, deadline was today but call tomorrow and see if you can sneak in, 847-824-8360, $2 pp
Saturday, November 21:
  • November 21 Craft Fair, Salt Creek Park District, Hat Trick Hockey Sports Center, Palatine, 9AM-2PM, free
  • November 21 Holiday Bazaar, Faith Lutheran Church, Arlington Heights, 9AM-3PM, holiday vendors, cookies by the pound, kids activity, free admission
  • November 21 Lapidary Art Day, Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, Elmhurst, 10AM-4PM, see demos of lapidary art, beading, silversmithing, cabochon cutting, wire wrapping and faceting, free hands-on activities, free admission
  • November 21 Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, Northbrook Theatre, 10AM and 1PM, $12 pp, purchase tickets online
  • November 21 Fall Open House Lake View Nature Center, Oakbrook Terrace, 12PM-4PM, hayride, hikes, campfire, activities, free
  • Also, Chicago Toy and Game Fair and Illumination from above.
Sunday, November 22:
  • November 22 Settler's Day, Sand Ridge Nature Center, South Holland, 10AM-3PM, history reenactors, hikes, crafts and more, free but food pantry donations welcome
  • November 22 Snowbird Craft Fair, Prospect High School, Prospect Heights, 10AM-3PM,130 vendors,$2 for adults, $1 for kids
  • November 22 Star Wars Day, Chicago Wolves, All State Arena, fun starts at 2PM or 3PM, tickets $25 pp, please read previous post for more info
