Build your Own Burger at Jersey's.

**Disclosure: Jersey's did provide us with a complimentary visit to bring this review to you as well as gift cards for the giveaway. No other compensation was received. All opinions are 100% my own.

We are always looking for fun inspirations to encourage us to leave our home in winter, so B.Y.O.B: Build Your Own Burger at Jersey's Pizza and Grill provided the perfect incentive to get out on a recent January evening.

Fun family restaurant in Hoffman Estates.

Overall, Jersey's has a fun, inviting atmosphere. A great place for families but at the same time a fun place to kick back with friends at the bar. The B.Y.O.B. is particularly amusing and intrigues to adults and kids alike.

Building a burger

B.Y.O.B is on Thursday nights 4PM-close. The base of your creation is a 1/2 lb. burger cooked over an open flame for $3. There are a few free toppings you can add. From there, you can layer all sorts of toppings from the standard cheeses to the unique like fresh jalapeno to the more bizarre like mozzarella sticks. (And, yes--people do order the burgers with mozzarella sticks on top.) Crafting a burger can be quite amusing with the number of choices Jersey's has to offer. Each has an a la carte fee ranging from $.10 to $1.50.  You can also add a side dish for $1.99.

To craft the burger of your dreams, you receive a handy-dandy sheet to check off your fixings from.
The list contains Jersey's unique wing sauces including the Coca Cola sauce. I did of course have to try this sauce and liked it--you get a hint of the Coca Cola taste but it is not overwhelming. I can see how guests enjoy its sweetness for wings and fries.

Our creations

For my burger, I enjoyed avocado, mushrooms and lettuce as a topping with spicy teriyaki sauce on the side. Loved the burger and the sauce provided a great topping! Plus, let me say that I loved the veggies on the side--fresh and colorful!

Jersey's Hamburger

My daughter opted for tomato, onion, cheddar cheese and mustard on her burger. At 10-years-old, she rather enjoyed the novelty of crafting her own burger. Really fun for kids! Plus, she ordered a side of onion rings--freshly battered and yum!

Build Your Own Burger at Jersey's

My husband was a little daring and went with bleu cheese, pork and onion rings. The success of his adventurous burger---well, he was a bit too adventurous. But, that was part of the fun!

Build Your Own Burger at Jersey's Pizza and Grill

B.Y.O.B. Build Your Own Burger truly was a fun little excursion for us. Inventing concoctions was fun for us adults but kids especially will rave about it. If you need a new adventure this winter, check out Jersey's. It is also close to the South Barrington Theater so you can make an evening of it! Build Your Own Burger is offered at Jersey's in Hoffman Estates from 4PM-close on Thursdays.
