Wednesday Weekend Windup {Easter Fun}

Easter weekend ahead! Here are some events to check out:
March 26 Rockford Meltfest, Prairie Street Brewhouse, Rockford, 10AM-5PM, all sorts of free activities, magic shows, science shows, face painting, button press, bead necklaces, trolley rides (weather permitting) and more!

Saturday, March 26:
  • March 26 Easter Egg Hunts, various times and locations in Hoffman Estates first at 8:15AM, kids released by age, free
  • March 26 Easter Egg Festival, Prairie Lakes, Des Plaines, 10AM-12PM, decorate a plastic egg and stuff it, take a picture with the Easter bunny, controlled egg hunts at 10:30AM and 11:30AM for 3-5 year olds, free, no registration necessary but you must be at egg hunt right on time!
  • March 26 Elmhurst Park District Egg Hunt, Wilder Park, Elmhurst, 10AM, bring your Easter basket, followed by canine egg hunt at 10:30AM, no registration necessary, Free
  • March 26 Hound Egg Hunt, Towne Square, Palatine, 10AM, dogs will be able to hunt for eggs and have a picture with bunny, dogs must have current rabies tags and be kept on leash at all times, agility area, vendors, $6 advance registration, $8 day of
  • March 26 Doggie Eggstravaganza, Wilder Park, Elmhurst, 10:30AM, prizes will be hidden in eggs, dogs must be on a leash, have current rabies tags and be handled by a responsible person age 16 or older, bring a basket, costume contest as well, no registration needed, free
  • March 26 Free Showing of Hop, York Theatre, Elmhurst, doors open at 10:30AM, starts at 11AM, free bunny ears for arrendees, Easter bunny and DJ in plaza 11:30AM-2PM
  • March 26 Spring Egg Scramble, Wheeling High School, 10:45AM, bring your basket and camera for photos with Easter Bunny and other characters, free, ages 2-6
  • March 26 Easter Egg Hunt, Lake County Fairgrounds, hunt starts promptly at 11:30AM, 10,000 eggs, free. 
  • March 26 Easter Egg Hunt, Ice House Mall, Barrington, 1PM-2PM, Easter egg hunt around the mall, ages 12 and under, free
  • March 26 Easter Traditions, Des Plaines History Center, 1PM-4PM, learn about the Easter traditions of the Russian Orthodox Church, eggs provided for decorating & taking home, $2 per member child/$3 per nonmember child
Sunday, March 27:
  • March 27 Eggstravaganza, Faith Lutheran Church, Arlington Heights, IL, Easter egg hunt, games, stories, games and crafts! The event is free! Bring an Easter basket to collect eggs, free
  • March 27 Bucket Bug Hunt, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 1:30PM, hike through the sugar bush to see who has fallen in the buckets, free
  • Easter can be a nice time for a hike in a preserve or at the Chicago Botanic Garden or Morton Arboretum.
