Barrington is preparing for the village's annual Relay for Life event on June 10! The event is open to the public and features special relay laps as well as some fun for families. The first lap around the track is a Survivor's Lap, giving survivors a moment to celebrate their victory and allowing participants to honor their incredible journeys. The moving Luminaria Ceremony provides an opportunity to honor those who have survived cancer, those who are still fighting and those we have lost to cancer. This year's Relay for Life will be 5PM-11PM on June 10th at the Barrington Township High School. An evening guaranteed to be full of emotion and inspiration!

Relay for Life Butterfly Stories

Paint Your World Purple

This year's theme for Relay for Life is Paint Your World Purple. Relay for Life is fueled by passion--the passion of cancer fighters and survivors, the passion of their family and friends and the passion of the community. This year, Relay is encouraging everyone to spread this passion and Paint the World Purple!

As part of this year's initiative, Relay for Life is encouraging the telling of cancer stories. With these stories, hope takes flight! Butterflies will be found throughout the country in various places to welcome stories. Communities will be creating inspirational butterflies and displaying them about town to uplift. Artist Barb Ross of the Barrington Cultural Arts Center painted Barrington Relay for Life's special butterfly. Survivors are encouraged to "find" the butterfly at the Barrington Cultural Arts Center in the Ice House Mall during regular business hours and share their journeys. You can also leave a message on the Barrington Relay for Life Facebook Page if you would like to share your story. These stories can help embolden others in their fight and invigorate the community in rallying behind the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life. Big changes happen as the result of little changes!

Storytelling Hour at Grassroots

Grassroots in Barrington will be hosting a special story time hour this Tuesday, May 17 from 7PM-8PM. Local resident Melissa Palmer will be sharing her cancer journey. Through sharing cancer stories, hope takes flight!
