Wednesday Weekend Windup {Fourth of July Edition}


Summer is in full swing! Are you ready for the Fourth? Here are my picks for the weekend. If you are looking for fireworks, the Chicago Tribune has a great rundown.

  • April 8-September 25 Ribbit! The Exhibit, Morton Arboretum, Lisle, 23 larger-than-life copper frog sculptures of frogs performing different activities throughut the arboretum, free with admission, $14 Adults ages 18–64, $12 Seniors ages 65+ , $9 Youth ages 2–17 (discounted admission on Wednesdays)

  • July 2-3 Chicago Botanic Garden Art Festival, Glencoe, 10AM-5PM, botanic themed art, family art tent, free admission, $30 parking for nonmembers; also check for family drop-in activities at native garden and vegetable garden (10AM-4PM), also family activities in Japanese Garden Sunday (11AM-4PM)
  • July 2 Free Trail Walk, Fuller Air Station Prairie, Glenview, 11AM-12PM, free guided walk
Sunday, July 3:
  • July 3 Red, White and Blue, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 1PM, hike trail to find flowers, fruits or animals wearing our national colors, free!
  • July 3 American Raptors, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 1:30PM, visit resident eagle and learn about the characteristics that help it survive, free!
Monday, July 4:
  • July 4 Libertyfest, Bensenville, parade, free ice skating, free swimming, music, fireworks, see schedule
  • July 4 Glenview Fourth of July, parade, live music, DJ, fireworks
