Degustabox Treats

This month, I experimented with my third Degustabox and found it full with just as many goodies as during the previous two months. Once again, I have been introduced to new products that I would not have tried on my own and have found that I love so many of them! (Keep reading to learn about Degustabox AND how I make tortilla strips!)

September's Degustabox included full size versions of:

  • popCORNers
  • Sparkling Bitters
  • Toosum
  • BustaNUT! (2)
  • Sam Mills Gluten Free Corn Quinoa Fusili
  • Entenmann's Little Bites
  • Nando's
  • English Provender Preserves (3)
  • Michel et Augustin Shortbreads (2)
  • Hak's food kit
  • Zollipops
Once again, we have found all of the products to be of high quality and enjoyed sampling throughout the past two weeks.

Sparkling Bitters

For this month, I think my favorite new treat was the Meyer Lemon Sparkling Bitters water that I enjoyed on a hot afternoon. After receiving my box, I popped this straight into the fridge. The ingredients are simple---just sparkling water and bitters. A perfect, crisp afternoon treat--and healthy, too!

Toosum Gluten Free Oatmeal Bars

As avid hikers, we are always looking for little snacks to pack in our bags. On a recent hike, I tossed our new Toosum bar in my bag in case we felt a little nibbly on the hike. Sure enough, we felt twitches of hunger during our hike. So, my husband and I split our Cranberry & Acai Bar. Yum! We enjoyed it, plus even the little bit we each had gave us enough energy to finish our trip.

English Provender and Fresh Fried Tortilla Strips

Degustabox can provide a jumping off point for menu planning. There are some weeks that we really need inspiration! Degustabox items often provide the inspiration we need. We received three jars of English Provender goodies--Lemon Curd, Sweet Tomato & Chili Chutney and Caramelized Red Onion Chutney. For the chutneys, I fried up some tortilla strips. Perfect for dipping!

To fry up my strips, I first grabbed some older--a little dry--corn tortillas. I heated up 1 Tbsp avocado oil in a frying pan. I cut the tortillas into strips and fried them until slightly golden on each side. I then placed them on a plate lined with a paper towel to cool. Soon, they were ready for dipping! Easy! (If you do this on your own, you may need to add more oil as you go.)

Voila! A delicious little snack with the Sweet Tomato Chili Chutney and Caramelized Red Onion Chutney.

I also tried the Sweet Tomato Chili Chutney on turkey. A hit as well!

Sometimes, I think that Degustabox has been reading my mind! We have been looking for a new quinoa pasta, so of course we were excited to try this!

Corn and Quinoa Pasta

We made Lemon & Dill Chicken using a  EatingWell Recipe. LOVED the pasta--the perfect consistency. Sometimes corn is too hard, quinoa too soft. This was just right.

PopCORNers

For a snack, I tried some popCORNers. As you can see, we received a full bag! They were salty, sweet and crunchy. I am not a huge kettle corn person, but these would probably satisfy kettle corn cravings in between getting it at a festival.

BustaNUT!

Seriously---yes, we did receive maple bacon peanuts in our Degustabox. I am not normally a bacon person BUT the hickory it added to the peanuts was great. Definitely more delicious than I thought they would be.
