Friday, October 14:
  • October 14-16 Glass Pumpkin Patch, Morton Arboretum, Lisle, glass blowing demos, artwork for sale, free admission with admission to arboretum  $14 Adults ages 18–64, $12 Seniors ages 65+ , $9 Youth ages 2–17 
  • October 14-15 Hawkfest, Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve & Lake Forest College, bird walks, raptor visits and lectures and classes about raptors, some events free, some require a fee and registration, see website
  • October 14-16 Autumn Drive in Woodstock, local farms offering fall goods, fall fun for families, pick your own fruit, see website for more info
  • October 14-15 Haunted Forest, Oak Brook, haunted maze, hayride, face painting, crafts and more, $1 per ticket--each activity has a different ticket value, see website
  • October 14-15 All Hallow's Eve, Naper Settlement, Naperville, 6:30PM-10PM, the village buildings are turned into spooky scenes, not recommended for children 8 and under, $15 pp
Satuday, October 15:
  • October 15 Free Arlington Heights Fire Department Open House, 10AM-2PM, check out equipment, see demos and more
  • October 15 Bird's Tale Halloween Story Hour, Wildbird Shack, Mount Prospect, 10:30AM-11:30AM, free story time AND free cookies & refreshments, great for kids ages 5-8, please RSVP
  • October 15 Scarecrow Festival, Barrington, Memorial Park, 11AM-2PM, pony rides, scarecrow, cookie and pumpkin decorating, free admission
  • October 15 Pumpkin Fest, Vogelei Park, Hoffman Estates, 12:30PM-2PM, live music, crafts and games, bring food donation (nonperishable item) in order to decorate a pumpkin, free admission
  • October 15 Fall Festival Paddle at Skokie Lagoons, Northfield, 1PM-4PM, canoe trips, archery, guided hikes, pumpkin painting and more, all paddle programs for ages 5 & up, free
  • October 15 Hoots and Howls, Randhurst, 1PM-4PM, pet parade and contest, candy sculptor, owls from Stillman Nature Center, balloon artist and more, free
  • October 15 Jammin' Around the Campfire, Vera Meineke Nature Center, Schaumburg, 6PM-8PM, enjoy an evening of singing and stories around the campfire, roast marshmallows, free

Sunday, October 16:
  • October 16 Palatine Pizza Showdown, Durty Nellie's, 12PM-4PM, help judge the best pizza in Palatine, $10 per person, $5 kids 6-12, 5 and under are free
  • October 16 Fall Festival, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 10AM-4PM, storytelling, bee keeping demo, pumpkin painting and more, free admission but small fee for some activities, can also bring nonperishable food items for tickets (1 per ticket)
