Wednesday Weekend Windup {Scarecrow Fests, Trick-or-Treating and More}



The weekend will be here before you know it and there is plenty of fall fun to be had! Here are my picks:

  • October 7-9 Scarecrow Fest, St. Charles, the town is decorated by scarecrows made by local businesses and organizations, carnival, craft show, puppets, live entertainment and more, see website
  • October 7-8 Wheeling Oktoberfest, Heritage Park Performance Pavilion, $5 pp, 12 and under free

  • October 8 Fall Festival, Cantigny Park, Wheaton, 10AM-4PM, craft show, hayrides, inflatables, petting zoo, food trucks, live entertainment, $5 parking, small fee for some activities
  • October 8 Trucks, Trunks and Treats, Family Aquatic Center Parking Lot, Vernon Hills, 11AM-1PM, wear your costume and bring your trick-or-treat bags for this Halloween themed touch-a-truck, $3 pp, purchase tickets online
  • October 8 Kids' Fall Festival at Mount Prospect Oktoberfest, interestion of Emerson and Busse, Mount Prospect, 1PM-4PM, Make your own pinecone bird feeder (NO peanut butter used), craft your own scarecrow and design your own sidewalk masterpiece, famous never-ending trick-or-treat line so wear costumes, fun will also include hayrides, live entertainment and more. FREE! 
  • October 8-10 Falling into Autumn Walk, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 1:30PM, free, trail walk each day this weekend at 1:30PM
Sunday, October 9
  • October 9 Danada Fall Festival, Danada, 11AM-5PM, celebrate horses and the season, breed parade, equestrian performances, exhibits, crafts and more, free admission but fees do apply to some activities
  • October 9 Family Fitness Day, Des Plaines
  • October 9 Knock, Knock. Who's There? Woodpecker, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 1:30PM, learn about a woodpecker's adaptations, make your own feeder and go on a binocular hunt, free
  • October 10 & 22 Food Truck World Series, Northbrook Court
