Wednesday Weekend Windup: {Illumination, Owls &Elf Jr.}

Wow! How is it the middle of November already? Next week is Thanksgiving! So much fun ahead this time of year! Here are some fun events for the weekend:
Ongoing:
  • November 18 - January 2 Illumination at Morton Arboretum, a light show in the trees, interactive displays and more, check website for more description on prices and times, purchase tickets in advance
Friday, November 18:
  • November 18-20 Make Your Own Glass Pumpkin, Patterson Glass Works, Mundelein, 10AM-4PM, first come, first serve basis, $25 pp for small pumpkin, $50 for large
Saturday, November 19:
  • November 19 Salt Creek Park District Craft Fair, Salt Creek Sports Center, Palatine, 9AM-2PM, free admission
  • November 19 & 20 Great Train Show, Lake County Fair Grounds, Grayslake, 10AM-4PM, admission fee but not posted, kids 11& under are free
  • November 19 & 20 Elf Jr, Northbrook Theatre, 12:30PM, based on holiday film, $12, purchase tickets online
  • November 19 Holiday Lighting Ceremony, Highland Park, 3PM-5PM, downtown scavenger hunt, performance of The Nutcracker in Uncle Dan's storefront, tree lighting, free
  • Also, make a glass pumpkin from above.
Sunday, November 20:
  • November 20 44th Annual Settlers' Day, Sand Ridge, South Holland, 10AM-3PM, costumed interpreters, history hikes, activities, free but will be excepting nonperishable food item donations
  • November 20 Prospect Craft Show, Prospect High School, 10AM-3PM, $4 pp admission
  • November 20 Ye Olde Alpaca Shoppe Open House, Barrington, 10AM-6PM, meet alpacas and shop alpaca wool goods
  • November 20 Nocturnal Hunters - Owls, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 1:30PM, learn about the attributes that make owls fascinating, free
  • Also, make a glass pumpkin, great train show and Elf Jr. from above.
