We are rounding the corner to the weekend! Dare I say, Santa is here? Some fun events for the weekend:

Thursday, November 10:
  • November 10-13 The Grove Arts & Crafts Faire, Glenview, amazing collection of crafters spread out in various buildings at The Grove, $5 admission, $1 for kids 12 and under, wonderful way to start of the holidays; Nov 10-11 10AM-8PM, Nov 12-13 10AM-5PM
Friday, November 11:
  • November 11 Santa's Grand Arrival, Yorktown Center, Lombard, 10AM-12PM, holiday crafts, fun, face painting, story time and more, free
  • November 11 Santa's Arrival and Fireworks, Deer Park Town Center, Kildeer, 6PM-9PM, Santa will turn on holiday lights, fireworks shortly after 6PM, Santa visits until 8:30PM, free 
  • Also, Grove Arts & Craft Faire.
Saturday, November 12:
  • November 12-13 Trainfest, Wisconsin State Fair Park, West Allis, WI, 9AM-5PM, $12 for ages 13+, child admission (4-12) $2, NMRA member $10 -- rates are online discount if purchased in advance, run and ride trains
  • November 12 America Recycles Day, Tyner Interpretive Center, 10AM-2PM, learn why recycling is important and how to do it your house, family crafts & activities, free
  • November 12 Thanksgiving Bird Tales Story Hour, The Wildbird Shack, Mount Prospect, 10:30AM-11:30AM, stories geared towards 5-8 year olds, cookies & refreshments provided, free
  • November 12 Heritage Day at Peck Farm, Geneva, 11AM-3PM, learn about the Peck Family, see sheep herding and butter making and more, free
  • November 12 Tree Lighting Festival, Arboretum Shops, South Barrington, 11AM-9PM, ice skating, figure skating show, holiday light trolley, laser light tree lighting show, free, see schedule
  • November 12 Kaleidoscope of Colors, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 12PM-1PM, learn about the colors and patterns of animals
  • Also, Grove Arts & Craft Faire.
Sunday, November 13:
  • November 13 GPS Scavenger Hunt, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 12pm-2pm, stop in the nature center and learn about the nature inspired treasure hunt, then use coordinates to find hidden treasures, bring your own device or limited number available
  • November 13 Autumn Scavenger Hunt and Campfire, Trailside, River Forest, 1PM, search for clues about changing season, roast marshmallows, sip hot cider, $2, rsvp by 11/11 at 708-366-6530
