Wednesday Weekend Windup {Shamrocks, Mini Golf and Dinos}

I can't believe March is already here! Three cheers for St. Patrick's Day Fun! Along with some St. Paddy's Day fun, there are a couple of dino events, mini golf, maple syrup fun and more!
Ongoing:
  • February 11-March 26 The Orchid Show, Chicago Botanic Garden, Orchids in Vogue, some days feature live music, some hands-on elements, dress made of organic materials including orchids and more, adults $10/$12 for members/nonmembers; $8/$10 for kids and seniors; parking is $30 per car; you may purchase tickets and parking online
Saturday, March 4:
  • March 4-5 PaleoFest, Burpee Museum of Natural History, Rockford, 9AM-5PM, make and takes, paleo hands-on work stations, talks and more, $25 pp general public, $15 museum members
  • March 4 Make a Glass Shamrock, Patterson Glass, Mundelein, 10AM-4PM, $25
  • March 4-5 Sap's Rising, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 1:30PM, take a walk in the maple forest and learn about how maple syrup is made, free
  • March 4-5 and 11-12 Festival of the Sugar Maples, Coral Woods Conservation Area, Marengo, 10AM-3PM, see how maple syrup is made and how sap is collected
  • March 4 Mini Golf at the Mount Prospect Public Library, 11AM-4PM, 18 holes around the library, refreshments, $5 pp, donation goes to Mount Prospect Public Library Foundation
  • March 4 Elimination Jump, Norge, Fox River Grove, 12PM-4PM (gates open at 11AM), $5 at the gate, free for kids 12 and under, bring chairs and blankets or free with button from 2017 tournament
  • March 4 Elmhurst St. Patrick's Day Parade, 12PM, free
  • March 4 Taste the Town, Rolling Meadows, Rolling Meadows Community Center, 6PM-9PM, taste of different restaurants in Rolling Meadows, $15 pp
  • March 4 Dinosaur Discoveries, Lizzadro, 2PM, learn about dinos, fossils and props used to create awareness, ages 4 and up, $5 pp, reservations recommended
Sunday, March 5:
  • March 5 Comic Con Barrington, Barrington Area Library, 1PM-5PM, lego trains, Captain Jacks Sparrow visits, come in costume, cosplay and more, must register, free
  • March 5 Sun Gazing, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 1:00PM, learn about our nearest star and take a peek through a filtered telescope, free
  • March 5 Pioneer Living, Sand Ridge Nature Center, South Holland, 1:30PM, visit cabins and see what pioneer life was like, free
  • Also, Sap's Rising, Paleofest and the Festival of the Sugar Maples from above.
