  Lots of fun ahead for this weekend. The weather Sunday looks like it may be a bit better than Saturday, so plan accordingly! Here are my picks:    



 ROAD TRIP: Open House Racine on May 6 -- enjoy a day exploring iconic buildings, museums, studios and more in Racine County for free!

Ongoing:
  • May 6-21 Lilac Time at Lilacia Park in Lombard, lilacs and tulips in bloom, check calendar of events -- this weekend parade and craft show
Saturday, May 6:
  • May 6 Free Bird Walk, Kent Fuller Air Station, Glenview, 9AM-11AM, all levels welcome, meet at interpretive center, free
  • May 6 Big Trucks, Family Aquatic Center, Palatine, 10AM-1PM
  • May 6 Tails on Trails, Morton Arboretum, Lisle, 10AM-4PM, $5 per dog, $14 adults, $12 seniors, $9 youth
  • May 6 Kid Fest & Kite Fly, Citizens Park, Barrington, 11AM-3PM, nature centered  education & activities, free
  • May 6-7 Art in the Park, Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art and Wilder Park, Elmhurst, 10AM-5PM Sat, 1PM-5PM (museum hours, show will still be 10AM-5PM), over 100 artists, lapidary art will be demonstrated, free 
  • May 6 Multicultural Festival, Community Rec Center, Schaumburg, 11:30AM-2:30PM, entertainment, crafts and food, free, food for purchase
  • May 6 Kentucky Derby Family Day, Danada Equestrian Center, Wheaton, 12PM-4PM, self guided tours, hayrides, hobby horse derby and more
  • May 6 Country in the Park, Downers Grove Museum, 12PM-3PM, visit farm animals, play 1850's games, blacksmithing demo and more, free
  • May 6 Revenge of the Sixth, Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 1:00PM-2:30PM, Star Wars themed games and fun, come dressed as your favorite Star Wars character, Star Wars author Joshua Miller (Star Wars: A New Dawn and comics) will be available for a book signing at 3PM so stick around, free
Sunday, May 7:
  • May 7 Central School Open House at Mount Prospect's 1896 school, 1PM-3PM, tour the schoolhouse, dedication ceremony, free
  • May 7 Spring Festival, Trailside Museum of Natural History, River Forest, 10AM-3PM, animal encounters, kids tree climb, guided wildflower walks, seed planting and more, free
  • May 7 Springtime Slitherers, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 1PM, learn about snakes in spring, free
  • May 7 Animal Rehabilitation Presentation, The Grove, Glenview, 2PM-3PM, free but must register, 847-299-6096
