Wednesday Weekend Windup {Veggie Fest, French Connection, Kite Festival and More}


It is Wednesday night -- which means the weekend is ahead! Here are my local picks for this weekend:

Friday, August 11:
  • August 11 Food Truck Frenzy, Family Aquatic Center, Palatine, 5PM-8PM, food truck fun, bring a blanket and chairs and stay for a concert at the amphitheatre at 8PM
Saturday, August 12:
  • August 12-13 Lincolnshire Art Festival, Village Geen, Lincolnshire, 10AM-5PM, free
  • August 12-13 Veggie Fest, Benedictine University, Lisle, healthy living demos, vendors, food court, family fun, art show, music and more, free admission and parking, see schedule for more info
  • August 12-13 Kite Festival, Chicago Botanic Garden, 10AM-3PM, watch kite stunts and demos, fly your own kite, craft a kite, free with parking $30 per car
  • August 12 Sea Beast Puppet Company presents "Surf and Turf," Mount Prospect Public Library, 11AM-11:45AM, free but you must register
  • August 12 Itasca Family Day, Usher Park, Itasca, 11AM-3PM, food trucks, family activities, live music, admission $5 donation to Itasca families in need, children under 13 free
  • August 12 Second Saturday at Cantigny Park - Paper Making, Wheaton, 12PM-3PM, be prepared to get a little messy, free with $10 parking
  • August 12 Free Trail Walk at Fuller Air Station, Glenview, 11AM, guided walk
  • August 12 Star Gazing Party, Meineke Nature Center, Schaumburg, 8:30PM-11:00PM, telescopes set up to see Perseids, star-related fun activities, free
Sunday, August 13:
  • August 13 French Connection Day, Cantigny, Wheaton, 10AM-4PM, French market, French themed activities, can can dancers, French music, wine and beer garden and more, some activities have a slight fee, $10 parking
  • August 13 The Hills Are Alive, Barrington Hills Park District Riding Center, 11AM-4PM, Barrington Honor Ride and Run, crafts, games, live music, food, celebrating vets, free admission
