French Lick, Indiana Discoveries

After visiting the French Lick Baden Museum, we spent some time exploring French Lick. While there is quite a bit of shopping available within both French Lick Springs Hotel and West Baden Springs Hotel, there are definitely are a lot of discoveries to be made within quaint French Lick.

Our first adventure was to Bear Hollow Wood Carvers -- which is actually part of the adjoining suites with the museum. Easy! Bear Hollow Wood Carvers create incredible pieces using chainsaws.

The store includes an amazing number of Bear Hollow creations.

Additionally, the store  is home to many giftable items including many made locally. What a great spot to pick up something that is truly French Lick!

Another surprise, the store houses a coffee/ice cream shop.

For lunch we headed over the the German Cafe which was especially adorable for the holidays!

The menu features authentic German fare with plenty of choices. My daughter went with bratwurst:

I ordered the goulash with potato pancakes. Very tasty and filling!

My husband enjoyed the schnitzel and the spaetzle:

Overall, a very nice and hearty meal with a warm cozy ambiance and great service!

Afterwards, we ventured to R4 boutique for a little more shopping! R4 has a great collection of giftables, home decor and more. Many of the items are made locally or made elsewhere in the USA.

After, we went for a little hiking at Springs Valley Lake in the Hoosier National Forest. We savored an incredible scene with the late fall sun!

For our dinner, we visited Legendz Sports Bar and Grill. Legendz is pretty fun place and one that will go over well with the kids. The grill has a bunch of sports memorabilia which is interesting. The menu is quite sizable and has typical bar and grill items, so very family friendly. We all went for salads and wings.

If you are vising French Lick during the holidays, enjoy festive lights in a town square.

After visiting French Lick, we returned to magnificent West Baden Springs Hotel to enjoy more holiday festivities. French Lick is quite a holiday wonderland and one to have on your list for a family holiday getaway!
