New Year's 2018 Chicago Suburbs

There is still time to get in some of your favorite holiday events PLUS plenty of family New Year's options. Here are my picks for the Chicago suburbs this weekend:
  • November 30-January 8 Christmas on the Farm and Life by Lamplight Farm House Tours, Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, Thursdays-Mondays, see times. The farm house will be decorated for the holidays and full of aromas of holiday treats baked in a wood stove. Learn the origins of holiday traditions and more. Free.
  • Ongoing: Illumination at Morton Arboretum in Lisle; November 17-January 1; a light show in the trees, interactive displays and more, check website for more description on prices and times, purchase tickets in advance
  • Ongoing: Festival of Lights Cosley Zoo Wheaton; November 24-December 31 3PM-9PM, 20,000 twinkling lights transform the zoo with displays; Christmas tree sale as well; free; closed Christmas Eve and Christmas; check website for specific times (closed days), free but donations appreciated
  • Ongoing: North School Park, Arlington Heights, November 24-early January (per Village), free!
  • Ongoing: Rosemont Holiday Lights: Holiday Light Displays including 80,000 lights in Rosemont, November 24-January 4, daily, free, plus enjoy free ice skating (fee for rental)
  • Ongoing: Carol Stream Holiday Light Contest, judged on December 18, follow map to see lights:

  • December 28 Chocolate Drop-in Day, Morkes Chocolate, Palatine, 11AM-5PM, $9 pp, make a rice crispie treat tree or candy cane marshmallow

  • December 31 New Year's Eve Bash, Kohl Children's Museum, Glenview, morning & afternoon session, dance party (afternoon), party hat making, special photos, confetti drop, $33 per person for nonmembers, $23 for members -- we loved this when my daughter was younger
  • December 31 Bubble Bash, DuPage Children's Museum, Naperville, 9AM-12PM, crafts, tree pose yoga, quick sand play, fort building, create an edible diorama and much more, $25 pp non members, $20 pp members
