We are making the turn to the weekend! Here are my picks for family fun this weekend:
Ongoing:
  • March 17 - June 3 Simply Spring Butterfly Exhibit, Nicholas Conservatory in Rockford, enjoy butterflies flying freely in the conservatory, witness all of the butterfly life cycle, $6 resident, $8 non, $4 and $6 for seniors, kids 5-17 and veterans, Ages 3-4 $2, under 3 free, check website for times. ***Tropical Tuesdays Admission is $3.**
Saturday, April 14:
  • April 14 Earth Day Celebration, Fuller Air Station Prairie, 10AM-2PM, learn about environmental stewardship from local organizations, free
  • April 14-15 NIHJA Winter Horse Show, Palatine Stables, see website
  • April 14  Rock & Mineral Identification, Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, Elmhurst, 10:30AM, $5 per person, $3 per member, ages 8 and up, reservation necessary (630) 833-1616, admission $5 pp, $2 per child & $3 per teen
  • April 14 Animal Ambassadors of Willowbrook, Glen Ellyn, 11AM-12:30PM, tag a long with trainers as they interact with resident wildlife, for kids ages 12 and up, under 18 with an adult, must register, $5 pp
  • April 14 Magic by Randy, Mount Prospect Public Library, 11AM-11:45AM, free but must register
  • April 14-15 We Love Trees, Morton Arboretum, Lisle, 11AM-4PM, discover wonderful items made with trees in children's play area, free with admission, self-guided, also check out build a tree 
  • April 14 Canine Carnival, Schaumburg, 11AM-1PM, dog agility course, vendors, trick contests and more, $2 pp and $5 for residents, $3 and $7 for non, dogs must have proof of vaccination
  • April 14 Multicultural Fest, Community Center, Schaumburg, 11:30AM-2:30PM, professional and student entertainment, crafts and food, free
  • April 14 Second Saturday, Cantigny Park, Wheaton, 12PM-3PM, make a planter out of recycled newspaper and other earth friendly crafts, free, parking $5
  • April 14 Spring Symphony, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 1PM, learn local bird songs and frog choruses while on the trail, free
  • April 14  Rockin' Jewelry for Kids, Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, Elmhurst, 1:30PM, $10 per person, ages 8 - 16, reservation necessary (630) 833-1616
Sunday, April 15:
  • April 15 Springtime on the Farm, Volkening Heritage Farm, Schaumburg, 12PM-4PM, learn about how the farm gets ready for spring, meet newborn animals, $4 pp or $16 per family, ages 3 and under are free
  • April 15 Naperville Plays, Naper Settlement, Naperville, 1PM-4PM, engage your five senses with hands-on exhibits, free ice cream to first 300 people, $12/Adult, $10/Senior (62+), $8/Youth (4–12), Naperville residents free with proof of residency, kids under 4 free, DuPage Children's Museum Members free
