Wednesday Weekend Windup

There are plenty of fun times ahead this weekend. Here are a few in the area that have caught me attention. The weather currently looks like it will be pleasant this weekend. Let's hope it holds!

Des Plaines will be getting its fun on with its Fall Fest Family Festival this weekend, September 14-16. We have been to this festival before and had a lot of fun! There will be an art fair, a kidszone, a carnival, food, and music! The schedule varies per day so be sure to check out the Fest's website for details as well as for carnival prices.

The Mount Prospect Public Library is having a Super Saturday event this weekend. We have been to a number of these and they are great! This week, they will be featuring Pocket Circus from 11AM-11:45AM. You can register online.

Deer Park Town Center will be holding an ARTumn Harvest Festival Saturday (10AM-5PM) and Sunday (12PM-5PM).  There will be treasures from local artists, live entertainment, and a kids' art area! Plus, you can get some shopping on or eat at one of Deer Park's restaurants! (I love Biaggi's!)

This weekend is Free Swimming Weekend at the Olympic Swim Center in Arlington Heights. Free swimming times are 1PM-5PM on both Saturday and Sunday.

A LEGO train show is coming to the Arlington Heights Memorial Library this weekend. From 9AM-5PM Saturday and 12PM-5PM Sunday, LEGO trains will go through cities and movie scenes. Fun!

Blackberry Farm will be having a Fall Festival on Sunday from 12PM-4PM. You will have fun learning about the pioneers and having harvest treats (there may be a small fee for the treats). There will be a free ice cream social from 1PM-2PM provided by the Colonial Cafe. Blackberry Farm has all sorts of fun to discover! Blackberry Farm is $4.25/adult and $3.75/child for residents (Fox Valley Park District) and $7/adult, $6/child for non-residents.

Also on Sunday, the Arlington Heights Historical Museum will be the site of Art on the Grounds where local artists will  be creating outdoors. You can meet local artists and purchase original artwork. The event will be from 1:30PM-4:30PM. Admission is free!

Pioneer Day at the Elk Grove Historical Museum in Elk Grove Village will be held on Sunday from 1PM-5PM.  There will be reenactments and old fashioned games and crafts. There will also be a museum tour and a petting zoo. Admission is free. There is a $7 fee for families wanting to stuff a scarecrow.
