Wednesday Weekend Windup {Great Weather for Exploring!}

I have really been loving the weather the last few days. Ideal for enjoying that outdoors! I have been walking my daughter home from school. She has not been complaining, so she must be enjoying the
wonderful weather as well! This weekend looks like it will be a fairly decent one in the weather department. Saturday may be a tad hot, but Sunday looks perfect. Great for exploring!

I am glad to see that there are so many events this weekend to enjoy. Here are some you may like:

Saturday, September 7

There will be a Honey Expo at the Morton Arboretum Saturday and Sunday from 10AM-4PM. The expo will give you a chance to taste honey products, learn about bees from experts or take a honey bee hike (must sign up for hike, additional charge applies). Admission to the Arboretum is $12 for adults and $9 for kids. Check the schedule for more details. I just visited the Morton Arboretum this past weekend and we had fun checking out the big bug sculptures while hiking.

Truck fans will enjoy Touch-a-Truck at Techny Prairie Park in Northbrook from 10AM-12PM. The event is free, which is always a plus!

There will be a Revolutionary War Reenactment in Cantigny Park at the Parade Field from 10AM-4PM on Saturday and Sunday. Check the schedule for events. Admission is free with $5 for parking. I am a little bummed that I cannot make this one this weekend! I grew up in New Jersey and we attended a Revolutionary War Reenactment in our hometown every year!

Don't miss the Artumn Harvest at Deer Park Town Center this Saturday and Sunday. The event runs from 10AM-5PM on Saturday and 11AM-5PM on Sunday. View and purchase handmade and fine art from local artisans. There will be a kids area and admission is free!

Stop in The Book Market in the Glen Town Center for Sweet! with the Candy Crossing from 10:30AM-11:30AM. Make a candy craft and listen to candy stories. This event is a free drop in affair.

I can't believe that we are talking about Fall Festivals already! However, one of our faves, the Shades of Autumn Festival is starting this Saturday and Sunday at Stade's Farm & Market in McHenry. The event runs 10:00AM-6:00PM on Saturday and Sunday. This is a fun fall festival with plenty of rides and attractions. There will be an antique tractor show this weekend. The tractor show is free. There is a $10 admission to festival for unlimited rides except Frank the Combine ($5) and pony rides ($3). Check out our past post about Stade's!

The Downtown Downer's Grove Art Festival will be held from10:00AM-5:00PM on Saturday and Sunday. The event includes art, kids' activities and food from local vendors. Admission is free.

If you are up for some ice skating, there is an Open House at Glenview Ice Center from 12PM-3PM. The event includes a free public skate session. There is a charge for skate rentals.

Sunday, September 8

Graue Mill in Oak Park will be holding its Cornfest from 11:30AM-4:00PM. The event is a family picnic with hamburgers, hotdogs, roasted corn, pies and taffy apples. There also will be plenty of family fun. General admission is free and you can purchase tickets for food. Sounds like a good time!

The Arlington Heights Historical Museum is holding A Kid at Heart Closing Party with Macaroni Soup. A Kid at Heart is a special exhibit focusing on child's play. This sing-a-long will be a fun closing. The event starts at 3:00PM. The event is free but you need to call to reserve: 847-255-1225.

  1. Can't believe Autumn fests are starting up already! We're headed to the Touch a Truck on Sat. He's never gone to one and I think he's going to love it!

    1. He will love it! My daughter still has fun climbing into trucks. Have a good weekend!
