Weekend Windup {It is cold outside!}

 I am very anxious to get out of our house--but it is so cold! We have been trading off illnesses here for the past three weeks, so our ability to leave the house has been spotty. We have been able to get out here and there, but I feel like we have spent too much time in stale air! Of course, now that everyone seems better it is so frigid!

Here are some ideas for fun this weekend. Most are inside

Friday, January 3

Admission to the Lizzardo Museum in Elmhurst on Fridays is free. The museum is open 10AM-5PM. The museum houses gems, carved stone, rocks and minerals and more treasures  

Head over to the Chicago Botanic Garden for the Wonderland Express. The Wonderland Express ends on January 5th. You can read more about it and how to get tickets in our previous post.

The Melikin Puppets: Fractured Fairy Tales will be at the Garlands of Barrington from 10:30AM-11:30AM. Three classic stories-Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Chicken Little, and The Tale of Two Bad Mice- get a makeover in this Melikin Puppets production. There is no registration required for this free event--admission is first come, first served based on availability.

Illumination at the Morton Arboretum will run through January 4th. The new interactive light show will begin each evening at 4:30PM with the last entry at 8:30PM. (Please note that the event is closed November 28, December 2, 9, 16, 24, 25). Walk along a trail and hug a tree to see it glow, sing to another and see it light up and discover other fun ways to interact with trees! Tickets are $15 per adult, $10 per child (2-17) or $10 per adult member and $5 per member child. Tickets include daily admission to Arboretum. You can order tickets online.

Enjoy the Winter Carnival at the Glenview Ice Center January 3-5. There will be skating sessions with characters. Check website for times and prices. 

Winter Walk in at the Raupp Museum in Buffalo Grove from 1:00PM-3:30PM! Kids can weave a book mark today and check out the museum's exhibits!

Saturday, January 4 

Join storytime with Miss Kristie at the Barnes and Noble in Deer Park at 10AM. Enjoy a free storytime with crafts!

Visit The Book Market in The Glen Town Center for Fairytale Fantasy with Make-a-Messterpiece from 10:30AM-11:30AM. Come make a paper crown, listen to a story by the Glenview Public Library. The event is free, drop in and geared towards those 2-6
