Wednesday Weekend Windup {Is Spring Finally Here?}

I think that we are finally inching our way out of the deep freeze! The weather reports are saying 59 for Friday! Yippee! Will we finally be able to work on our gardens? One can hope.....

Looking for some fun this weekend? Here are few of our ideas:

Friday, March 21

Roast some marshmallows at the Old Fashioned Campfire at the Heller Nature Center in Highland Park this Friday evening from 6:30PM-8:00PM! Take a short hike with a naturalist and play some games to! The event costs $8 pp, 2 and under free. You must register for this event. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Saturday, March 22

Saturday morning, take a trip to the Morton Grove Indoor Spring Farmers' Market at the Morton Grove Civic Center from 9AM-2PM. There will be lots of vendors, food, balloon entertainment and a kiddie corner. 

Head over the Chicago Botanic Garden for the Malott Japanese Garden Spring Weekend from 11AM-4PM. The fun includes hands-on activities, making a cherry blossom hand scroll and writing a haiku. There will be a tea ceremony at 11:30AM on Sunday only. The event is free but there is a charge of $25 per car for parking.

Enjoy the family favorite  Llama, Llama as a production by Emerald City Theatre atThe Garlands in Barrington from 10:30AM-11:30AM. The event is being held by the library and is free!

Any Star Wars fans out there? There will be a Star Wars Extravaganza at the Des Plaines Public Library from 1:00PM-3:30PM. Come dressed up for a bunch of Star Wars activities. The event is free and drop in!

Sunday, March 23

Join the River Trail Nature Center's Maple Syrup Celebration from 11AM-3PM. There will be games, crafts, tree-tapping, maple syrup history and more for free!
