Wednesday Weekend Windup {Art, Nature, Food and more!}

There are a lot of events this weekend, so it should not be a problem keeping the kids busy while enjoying some family time! This weekend seems to have a little bit of everything--foodie events, nature fun, art and more! Here is a look of what caught our eyes:

Thursday, June 5

The Taste of Wheaton will be running Thursday through Sunday. The fest will include a carnival, kids activities, an arts and crafts fair, a business expo, food and more. Check the website for more details.

Friday, June 6

Have a Picnic in the Park at North School Park in Arlington Heights from 11:30AM-2:30PM. The free fun will include inflatables, balloon art, face painting and the book mobile. Bring a picnic lunch or purchase from vendors.

Saturday, June 7

Enjoy Kids Summer Saturdays at Whole Foods Market Northbrook from 9:45AM-10:45AM. Meet adjacent to coffee bar for free family friendly activities and crafts--plus some bites!

Learn about WWII at the 
D-Day Commemoration at Cantigny Park (First Division Museum, Robert R. McCormick Museum and Cantigny Visitors Center) in Wheaton from 10AM-4PM. Meet veterans, see reenactments and view artifacts. Kids can even make their own gliders. Free admission with $5 per car parking fee.

Stroll through the Promenade of Art in Downtown Arlington Heights this Saturday and Sunday from 10AM-5PM. The fun includes artists, kids activities, music and food vendors. Admission is free.
Visit The Grove Saturday or Sunday for the Bat Festival from 12:00PM-5:00PM. Learn about these flying mammals, experience bat encounters and enjoy storytelling and crafts for free!

Enjoy a Vintage Baseball Game at Blackberry Farm in Aurora from 1:00PM-4:00PM. The game is included with paid daily admission ($5 for adult residents, $4 for kids, under 2 free, $8 for adult nonresidents, $7 for kids, under 2 free)

Spend an afternoon on the farm and take part in the Ladybug Release at Susanna Farms in Lake Villa from 1:00PM-5:00PM. Release ladybugs on the farm or bring a bag home to release in your garden. $5 per person

Stop by Old Orchard Saturday from 2PM-3PM for The Organic Gardener Event. This week, kids will make garden journals and learn about worms. The Organic Garden is near Bloomingdale's and Crate and Barrel. Events each Sat and Tues through October 26 and are free!

Sunday, June 8

Explore the Forest at Crabtree Nature Center in Barrington from 12PM-4PM. Climb trees, try archery, touch a truck and more for free!

Visit Art in the Park at the Village Green in Elk Grove Village from 12PM-5PM. There will be juried art, a children's art exhibit, demonstrations, an open air art studio, hands-on fun, musical entertainment, a silent auction and free admission.
