Wednesday Weekend Windup {Whoa--there is a lot to do!}

Wow! There is a lot to do this weekend! I had a difficult time curating a list since there were so many great events this weekend. Here are some great picks for this weekend:

Wednesday, July 23

The  Lake County Fair will be bringing some extra fun to Grayslake through Sunday. There will be a petting zoo, magic, a carnival, a business expo, bingo, the Chicago Flower and Garden show and much more. Check website for more info!

Thursday, July 24

Start tomorrow with  Play in the Park at the Hamilton Reservoir in Palatine from 10AM-12PM. There will be a storytime for tots 10AM-10:30AM. There will be crafts, games and more for all ages 10:30AM-12:00PM. The event is free!

Friday, July 25

Enjoy a pleasant summer evening at Family Fun Night at Blackberry Farm in Aurora. The event runs 7PM-10PM and includes family games, a campfire, rides, an outdoor movie (this week is Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) and more. Bring blankets and lawn chairs for the movie. You can even bring a picnic! The event costs $5 pp at the door. 

Sweet's Civil War Reenactment will be at Four Seasons Park in Lombard Friday through Sunday. Friday brings an outdoor showing of Lincoln. There will be skirmishes,an encampment, kid's drill and more Sat and Sun 10AM-4PM. Suggested donation of $5 pp. Check schedule.

Irish eyes will be smiling during Irish Fest at the Arlington Heights Historical Museum Saturday and Sunday. The fun will include entertainment, Irish crafts and artwork, a food vendor and more. Friday is $5 per adult, free for kids under 15, Saturday is $5 per adult, $2 per child. All proceeds benefit the museum.

Enjoy the  Mt. Prospect Block Party Friday and Saturday at Emerson & Busse. The event is free, check schedule. Kids activities will be held Saturday.

Saturday, July 26

Lake Arlington in Arlington Heights will come alive with Dragon Boat Races from 8AM-4PM. The event is free!

Arts in the Park in the Towne Square in Palatine will provide a pleasant diversion from 10AM-2PM. There will be entertainment, art supplies so people can express themselves, adaptive art equipment, food vendors and more. The event is free but you must register--however, registration will be accepted the day of the event.

Saturday and Sunday bring the Geneva Arts Fair to Geneva from 10AM-5PM. Stroll through booths displaying various media of art. Admission is free.

This is the last weekend for the Alice in Wonderland Theatre-Hike at Morton Arboretum. The fun starts at 1PM Sat or Sun. Check previous post for more info.

Sunday, July 27

International Bog Day is the perfect time to visit Volo Bog! The event runs 12PM-5PM and includes musicians, an art show, crafts, stories and more for free!

Learn through art during Who Am I? Exploring Identity through Art at the Illinois Holocaust Museum in Skokie from 11:30AM-1:00PM. Art will be used to teach children about themselves and others. There will be different activities based on age group. The event is free with museum admission and costs $12 per adult, $8 seniors and students, $6 kids 5-11.

Enjoy a Free Sculpture Walk at the Sculpture Park in Skokie from 1PM-2PM. The walk is a docent guided walk.

Visit with Clara Barton on the  lawn in front of Graue Mill in Oak Brook from 1:00PM-3:00PM. An actress will present the inspirational Civil War nurse. The event is free! (Admission to Mill is $4.50 per adult, $4 per senior, $2 child 4-12, 3 and under free!)

Trades Day at  Naper Settlement in Naperville from 1:00PM-4:00PM will be great fun! Meet craftsmen who blacksmith, quilt and more. There will be  hands-on activities, some activities have a small fee, $12 adults, $10 seniors, $8 kids 4-12, under 4 free!

Sweep the Fields at Crabtree Nature Center in Barrington from 1PM-2:30PM. Use nets to investigate insects. The event is free!
