Wednesday Weekend Update {Huskies and Owls, Oh My!}

Wow! It has been pretty warm here--and I have been loving it! How about you? I like being able to get out in the winter without worrying about your nose freezing off. I must admit, though, I would like a bit more snow. I feel like the kids got really robbed last year with it being so cold, so a little more frosty fun would be nice!

ROAD TRIP IDEA: January 24&25 Starved Rock Bald Eagle Watch Weekend, kids activities, eagle viewing, Native American dancers, birds of prey shows and more, check website for details and pricing

Saturday, January 24:
  • January 24-25 Norge International Ski Jumping Tournament, Fox River Grove, teams from around the world will be competing, $10 pp if you buy a button prior at an area merchant, $15 pp day off, check website for more details
  • January 24 Rock & Mineral Identification, Lizzadro Museum, Elmhurst, 10:30AM-11:45AM, learn hands-on ways to identify minerals, for ages 8-adult, $5 pp, $3 per member, register: 630-833-1616
  • January 24-25 Husky Heroes, Morton Arboretum, Lisle, 11AM-4PM, husky demos and meet huskies, free with admission PLUS check out the Enchanted Railroad also free with admission: winter rates are $9/adult, $8/senior, $6/child, get timed ticket for Enchanted Railroad at Visitor's Center
  • January 24 Game Day Vendor Fair, Whole Foods Market, Schaumburg, 12PM-4PM, vendors sampling items perfect for game day, may be a fun time to go grocery shopping!
  • January 24 Winter Fun Family Play Day, Emily Oaks Nature Center, Skokie, 1PM-3PM, nature based play, free! 
Sunday, January 25:
  • January 25 Two Owls and a Naturalist, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 1:30PM-2:30PM, get up close and personal with 2 resident owls, free!
  • January 25 The Melikin Puppet Circus, The Book Market, The Glen Town Center, Glenview, 2:00PM-2:45PM, free but you must register online!
