Halloween weekend is upon! Here are my picks for a bootiful weekend in the Chicago suburbs!

Friday, October 28:
  • October 28-30 Haunted Hole-O-Ween, Mountain View Mini Golf, Des Plaines, play mini golf on a haunted course, $10 per person, see website for more info
  • October 28 101st Annual Haunted House, Winnetka, less scary time 10AM-2PM $5 per person, accompanying adult is free, haunted time is 7PM-9PM, $8 pp, can reserve tickets online
  • October 28 BOO-nanza, Community Recreation Center, Wheeling, 4PM-7PM, hayride, puppet/magic show, games, crafts, for ages 10 and under, free
  • October 28 Trunk-or-Treat, Public Works, Arlington Heights, 6PM-8:15PM, trick-or-treating, mad science demo, crafts, inflatables, refreshments, register at door, will receive a bag, not sure on cost?
  • October 28 Somewhat Scary Stories, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 7PM, stories around a campfire, $2 pp, register:  847-381-6592
Saturday, October 29:
  • October 29 Halloween Party, Community Center, Palatine, 9:30AM-12:00PM, carnival games, crafts, Jim Nesci with cold blooded animals, goody bags for 1st 500 kids, day of fee $7 per child, $1 per adult
  • October 29 Free Taffy Apples, Wildbird Shack, Mount Prospect, 10AM-5:30PM, 1 per visitor
  • October 29 Howl-O-Ween Pooch Parade, Willow Stream Park, Buffalo Grove, 10:45AM, parade, costume contest, fun activities, dog egg hunt, free but must register before or at event
  • October 29 Bootiful Saturday Elmhurst City Centre, free showing of Hotel Transylvania 2 9:30AM-11AM, 11AM-1PM trick-or-treating around city center, over events like free pumpkin patch, dancing and more, see schedule
  • October 29 Halloween Hoopla, Des Plaines, annual costume parade, pumpkin races, craft at the library, performance of Little Red Riding Hood, Dia de Los Muertos events at History Center ($3 pp), check schedule for more details
  • October 29 Arb-BOO-Retum, Arboretum Shops, South Barrington, 11AM-2PM, trick-or-treating, touch-a-truck and more, free
  • October 29 Trick-or-Treating, Deer Park Center, Kildeer, 12PM-3PM, stilt walker, balloon artist, fire truck and more, free
  • October 29 & 30 10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse Theater Hike, Morton Arboretum, 3PM, FEES AND ADMISSION: MEMBER $10.00 adult/$5.00 child*
    NONMEMBER **$20.00 adult/$10.00 child ** Child admission is ages 2-17 ** Arboretum admission is included in the nonmember price
  • October 29  Boo Bash, Glen Town Center, Glenview, 3pm-6pm, trick-or-treating, family fun, free
  • October 29 Haunted Forest and Fall Fun, Algonquin Road School, Fox River Grove, 4PM-10PM, fall activities start at 4PM, not so scary forest portion for little ones 6PM-7PM, hayrides, bonfire at dusk, $4 pp, 3 and under are free
  • October 29 A Haunting in the Valley, Spring Valley, Schaumburg, 6:15PM-9PM, have to register for time slot, $6 pp if before 10/28; $8 at door if available--advised to go to office ahead to purchase, event for ages 4+

Sunday, October 30
  • October 30 Trunk-or-Treat, Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Arlington Heights, 12PM-2:30PM, free
  • October 30 Owls, Bats and Spiders, Crabtree Nature Center, 1:00PM, meet an owl close up, dissect an owl pellet, listen to bat calls, free
  • October 30 Halloween Happening, Naperville, 1PM-4PM, tiny tot town designed for kids ages 2-4, some creepy activities, fairytales, games and more, free
  • October 30 The Un-haunted Forest, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 1:30PM, come in costume for a magical hike around the forest, halloween treat at the end, $1 per child, registration required, call:  847-824-8360
  • Also, Haunted Hole-O-Ween and 10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse.
