Here are some fun local weekend activities for this weekend! In the winter, please always be sure to check if outdoor events are running if it is very, very cold. 
Road Trip: Holiday Train display at the Kenosha Public Museum through January 8th.

Saturday, January 7:
  • January 7 Fitness Expo, Camelot Community Center, Arlington Heights, 9AM-11AM, class demos and vendors, free
  • January 7 Critter Connection, Wildwood Nature Center, Park Ridge, 10:15AM, learn about a resident animal, free
  • January 7 Winter Animal Tracking, Trailside Museum of Nature History, River Forest, 1:00PM, naturalist guided walk to learn from real nature clues, free
  • January 7 Winter Fest, Centennial Ice Arena, Highland Park, 2:30PM-4:30PM, open gym and ice skating, skating lessons, bee & winter animal display from Heller Nature Center and more, free
  • January 7 & 8 Open Skates at Orbit Skate Center, 1PM-4PM & 7PM-10PM Sat, 11AM-3PM Sun, afternoon skates $7 pp, $4.00 for rental, $8.50 pp Sat evening
Sunday, January 8:
  • January 8 Coyotes: Chicago's Canines, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 1PM-2PM, learn coyote's role in our ecosystem, go on a short hike to look for evidence of their presence, free
  • Also, afternoon open skate at Orbit Skate Center.
