Wednesday Weekend Windup {Zombies, Scarecrows & More}


So much fall fun this weekend! Here are my picks for the Chicago suburbs this weekend:
Friday, October 20:
  • October 20 Halloween Spooktacular, Park Center, Glenview, 5:30PM-8:00PM, for ages 2-10, costumes optional, Halloween crafts, games, inflatables and more, $10 per child, parents must accompany kids, parents and kids under 2 are free
  • October 20 Evening at Trailside, River Forest, 5:30PM-8:30PM, campfire, storytelling, s'mores and more, free
  • October 20-31 Gallery of the Ghoulish Home Tours, St. Charles, drive around checking out Halloween decorations, check website for more info
  • October 20-21 All Hallow's Eve, Naper Settlement, 6:30PM-10:00PM, Naper Settlement becomes haunted at night, $20 pp, not recommended for kids ages 8 and under, can buy tix online, cash only there
Saturday, October 21:
  • October 21-22 Boo! at the Zoo, Brookfield Zoo, 10AM-4PM, trick-or-treat at the zoo -- check out the special event at Brookfield Zoo:
  • October 21-22 Trains, Tricks and Treats, Chicago Botanic Garden, Glencoe, 10AM-5PM, trick-or-treat in the train garden, $6 per adult, $5 seniors, $4 for kids 3-12, under 3 free, parking is $30
  • October 21-22 Corn Harvest, Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, 10AM-4PM, hear the history of corn, pick corn, help store some, make corn husk dolls, tour the farmhouse and more, free
  • October 21 Bird Tales Story Hour, The Wildbird Shack, Mount Prospect, 10:30AM-11:30AM, free story hour with refreshments, free
  • October 21-22 Pumpkin Weekends, Blackberry Farm, Aurora, 11AM-4PM, hayrides, train rides, seasonal crafts, decorate a pumpkin ($3) and more, $7 pp, ages 2 and under are free, $3 additional fee for pumpkin
  • October 21 Scarecrow Festival, Barrington, 11AM-2PM, pony rides; scarecrow, pumpkin and cookie decorating, free admission
  • October 21 Halloween Fest, Randhurst Village, Mount Prospect, 11:30AM-4:00PM, pet costume parade, owls from Stillman and more
  • October 21 Viking Ship Tours, Geneva, 1PM-4PM, replica Viking ship, tours, $5 adults, $3 teens, kids free
  • October 21 Pumpkinpalooza, Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 1PM-3PM, choose and decorate a pumpkin from the "patch", free pumpkin for first 100 children
  • October 21 Zombie Apocalypse, Wheeler Park, Geneva, 4:30PM-8:00PM, 4:30PM-6:00PM family friendly portion, $9 R/$14 NR if you register early -- which is recommended, $10/$15 at the door
Sunday, October 22:
  • October 22 Croctoberfest, Wildlife Discovery Center, Lake Forest, 10AM-3PM, short talks on crocs and kin, visit living animals, storytelling, family fun and more, $10 pp, kids under 3 free
  • October 22 Circle Fest at Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 1PM-3PM, celebrating Dave Egger's The Circle, hoola hoop contest, bubble artist, sidewalk chalk, spinograph flowers and more, free
  • October 22 Creatures of the Night, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 1:30PM, experience some of the creepiest nocturnal animals, free
  • October 22 Trunk-or-Treat, Immanuel Lutheran Church and First United Methodist Church, Palatine, 3PM-5PM, bounce house, comfort dogs and more,  free
  • Also, Richardson Corn MazeStade's Shades of Autumn Royal Oak Farm Orchard and Didier Farm's Pumpkin Fest. We love all of them!
