There is plenty of fun to enjoy the suburbs and surrounding this weekend. However, make sure events have not changed due to weather before going out. My picks:

- January 13-February 19 Enchanted Railroad at The Morton Arboretum:The Morton Arboretum in Lisle will be hosting its annual Enchanted Railroad event. The display is quite intricate and families will enjoy picking out a variety of miniatures. Free with regular Arboretum admission
- February 10 - March 25 The Orchid Show, Chicago Botanic Garden, a much needed tropical infusion in the middle of winter, Tickets are:Adults: $10/$12 Seniors 62+: $8/$10 *Children age 3–12: $8/$10 Parking is $25 per car; Purchase tickets online to ensure availability.

- February 10 Wilmot Mountain 80th Anniversary Celebration, Wilmot, WI, enjoy time on the slopes and a variety of family fun including ice sculpting and fireworks, see website
- February 10-11 Chocolate Weekend, Morton Arboretum, Lisle, an opportunity to taste and buy special chocolate treats, free with Morton Arboretum admission
- February 10 Creator Fair, Barrington Area Library, 10AM-4PM, try your hand at various methods of creations, free
- February 10 Snowshoe Trekking, Rolling Knolls, Elgin, 11AM-2PM, guided nature hikes, skins and skulls, bonfire, need 4" of hard snow for hiking, free, no reg necessary
- February 10 Snowdaze Ice Carving Festival in Kenosha, 12PM-3PM, live ice sculpting, tour ice sculptures, bring your skates for ice skating, promotions at businesses, free admission
- February 10 Downtown Chocolate Walk, Naperville, 12PM-5PM, map of downtown where you will find tasty treats, $30 per person, please purchase tickets ahead, benefits 360 Youth Services
Sunday, February 11
- February 11 Great Midwest Train Show, DuPage County Fairgrounds, 9AM-3PM, exhibitors, model railroads to view, trains for kids to run, $7/adult, kids under 12 are free
- February 11 FREEze Day, Brookfield Zoo, 10AM-2:30PM, free admission, dog sled demos, special shows
- February 11 Elsah and Anna Perform Live, Learning Toys Express, Lake Zurich, 2PM-3PM, free, tickets passed out for pictures after performance
- February 11 Sit Down With a Skunk, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 1:30PM, learn about skunk habits and adaptations, meet River Trail's resident skunk, free
- February 11 Birds of Prey, Willowbrook, Glen Ellyn, 2PM-3:30PM, learn about hawks, owls and eagles; get upclose with the bird; $5 pp, ages 7 and up, must register
