Family Fun in the Chicago Suburbs September 13-15, 2019: Art in Nature, Shermerfest, Bonfire, Depot Days and More Fun

The weekend is around the corner! There is plenty of fun ahead and fall fun is just beginning! Here are my picks for this weekend:

Friday, September 13:
  • September 13 Birds of Prey, Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 7PM-8:30PM, please pre-register, River Trail Nature Center will be bringing a bird of prey, see website for more info, free
Saturday, September 14:
  • September 14 Heritage Park Nature Tour, Heritage Park, Wheeling, 9:30AM, meet at the performance pavilion to meet with ecologists and take a tour of the park learning about ecosystems, flora and fauna, free
  • September 14 Cuenta y Canta with Laura Crotte, Mount Prospect Public Library, 11AM-11:45AM, bilingual program exploring the sounds, instruments, stories and more of Mexico and Latin America, free but you must register
  • September 14-15 Lisle Depot Days, The Museums at Lisle Station Park, Lisle, 12PM-5PM, straw bale maze, vintage automobiles, Civil War medicine interpreters, petting farm, model train layout, living history demos, hands-on activities and crafts, free admission
  • September 14 Old Settlers Oktoberfest, Old Settlers Park, Kenosha, 11AM-8PM, German food and festivities, live music, car show, kids tractor train, activities and more, see schedule
  • September 14-15 Aurora's Fiestas Patrias, Metra Parking Lot, celebrate Mexico's Independence Day, music, dance, food, carnival rides, artists and more, 1PM-10PM Sat, 12PM-8PM Sun
  • September 14 Bonfire and Barn Dance, Wagner Farm, Glenview, 4PM-8PM, wagon rides, music, storytelling, roasting marshmallows over the fire. $5 pp, purchase tix online or at the door
  • September 14 Harvest Bonfire, Heritage Farm, Schaumburg, 6PM-8PM, $7 pp, take a wagon ride, roast hot dogs and marshmallows
