The weekend is here! March is one of my favorite months because spring is in the air and we celebrate St. Patrick's Day! My Irish eyes are smiling! Here are my picks for the weekend:

Ongoing:

February 26 - March 7  Lake County Restaurant Rally -- support Lake County restaurants during a special restaurant week!

March 1-31 Self Guided Trivia Trails, Lyons Woods Forest Preserve, Waukegan, 1.5 mile looped trail, trivia questions along the way

March 1-31 Self-Guided Maple Syrup Hikes, Ryerson Conservation Area, Riverwoods, follow the signs to learn about maple syrup production

Dunn Museum in Libertyville is back open, please reserve timed ticket, learn about the history and natural history of Lake County, enjoy special exhibits as well, admission fee

Ongoing Naper Settlement is back open to the public including viewing the Women: Waves of Change exhibit. Naper Settlement is currently open Tuesdays - Fridays 10AM-4PM, $5 pp, must register ahead.

Saturday, March 6

March 6-8 Catch the Leprechaun, Trailside, River Forest, 9AM-4PM, story walk featuring the book How to Catch a Leprechaun, solve the clues to reach the pot of gold, catch the leprechaun and win a prize, stop at Trailside's Nature Play Area to get the materials needed

March 6 Maple Syrup Magic, Plum Creek Nature Center, Crete, 10AM-3PM, learn how maple syrup is made, free but you must register for a time slot

March 6 & 7 Patterson Glassworks Open House: Make Flowers or Shamrocks, Mundelein, $35, by appointment only

March 6 & 7  Sap's Rising, River Trail Nature Center, Northbrook, 10:30AM or 1:30PM, take a walk and learn about maple syrup, call 847-824-8360

March 6 Wagon Rides at Wagner Farm, Glenview, 11AM-2:00PM, 20 minute ride, $25, must reserve a time for your group

March 6 & 7 Maple Sugaring, Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago, 20 minute tours to learn about how maple syrup is made, demonstrations, 1PM, 1:30PM, 2PM, 2:30PM, 3PM, 3:30PM, $5 pp, must register, must wear a mask

March 6 Lantern Lit Night Hike, James "Pate" Phillip State Park, Bartlett, 6PM-9PM, hikes leave every 20 minutes, must register, $10 pp

Sunday, March 7

March 7 Winter Warm Up, Crabtree Nature Center, Barrington, 10AM-2:30PM, warm yourself by a fire and enjoy s'mores, 30 minute time slots to register for, $3 pp or $10 per family of four, call 847-381-6592 to register

March 7 Virtual Reptile Rampage with Wildlife Discovery Center, 10AM-2PM, learn all about reptiles, $25 per family, must register, program via Zoom

March 7 Fascinating Fox Snake, Facebook Live via Little Red Schoolhouse, 11AM, free

March 7 Mommy and Me Creating a Floral Headband and Clip, at Kaleidoscope in Barrington with Little Lady Impressions, 1PM-2:30PM $75 per pair, must register, limited availability
