A Little Time and a Keyboard: Recharging at the Marina Grand

Recharging at the Marina Grand

Friday, February 24, 2012

My family and I love to take trips up to New Buffalo, Michigan to get away from it all and do a little relaxing and recharging.  We had the opportunity to go up to New Buffalo a couple of weekends ago and stayed at the Marina Grand.  We actually were planning on staying at the Harbor Grand (Marina Grand's sister property).  However, a little reservation snafu here and a lack of rooms there and we ended up at the Marina Grand.  While we love the Harbor Grand, we have been wanting to check out the Marina Grand for awhile, so no loss!

Our room was immense!  It had a large living space, large kitchen with all the amenities that you can imagine, two bathrooms, a large bedroom, a fold out couch, and a deck.  The only complaint I can really think about is that the televisions were pretty small for such a grand suite.  While my pictures do not do the suite justice, take a peek:

Kudos to the Harbor Grand and Marina Grand for fixing our reservation issue--totally our snafu!

Marina Grand also has a nice restaurant, the Bentwood Tavern, on its property.  Additionally, there is a coffee shop where you can pick up some breakfast or other sundries (even some wine--I am not sure if that is a sundry, but it is to me!).  There is also a pool and a workout room.  Oh, and there is the beautiful marina!

Another great perk---sometimes the hotels run specials for email subscribers.  On our visit, we received a bottle of champagne, a box of Vosges truffles, and a couple of roses.  Nice!

The Marina Grand suite is really perfect for a family spending some time in Harbor Country.  I recommend both properties to anyone traveling to New Buffalo.  They are both not far from all of the cute shops and good restaurants in the downtown area.  They are also near the beach.  The Marina Grand, however, may be a little far to walk depending on your family.

Both hotels are great and I look forward to my next visit.  I hope to write about the Harbor Grand in the future!
