Immediately upon entering, one cannot help but be tempted by the confections. The confection counter is a sight to behold. But, we were determined to have lunch first. So, we grabbed a seat and enjoyed the cozy and nostalgic atmosphere. Lagomarcino's has long been a staple of Moline opening in 1908! So many memories!

My husband and daughter ordered sandwiches and I ordered a tuna salad plate. While awaiting our meal, I learned a little more about Lagomarcino's history. Angelo and his wife Luigia came to Moline from Italy in 1908. They opened a shop that was originally a confectionery with a tobacco counter for cigars, cigarettes and a plug of tobacco. Interesting combo! Angelo also LOVED fruit. So, he also sold fruit making beautiful displays. Still in the family, Lagomarcino's now has deli with tasty sandwiches and salads in addition to the confections, soda fountain and fruit.

We enjoyed our meals but, of course, could not wait for our sweet soda fountain creations! We each had a sundae -- my daughter and I opting for hot fudge sundaes and my husband for a turtle sundae. Our hot fudge sundaes came with a lovely mini pitcher of Lagomarcino's hot fudge! Lagomarcino's hot fudge is crafted by with a unique recipe they have been using since 1918. You cannot have it anywhere else in the world and it is divine!

A beautiful fruit selection is still part of Lagomarcino's. Now, you can have fruit baskets created for gifts!

Lagomarcino's is full of history with still more stories to come! If you have a moment, I recommend asking about some of the historic pieces in the shop. Throughout the shop, you will find some interesting pieces that tell Lago's history included the ice cream bucket they once used to bring ice cream to events.
