Holiday family fun in the Chicago suburbs 12/1/17-12/3/17.

Santa is definitely going to be busy this weekend! There are plenty of holiday events to enjoy. Here are my picks:
Ongoing:
  • Ongoing: Illumination at Morton Arboretum in Lisle; November 17-January 1; a light show in the trees, interactive displays and more, check website for more description on prices and times, purchase tickets in advance
  • Ongoing: Dickens Holiday Village and Kringle's Christmas Village Tour in Antioch November 4-December 25; over 50 handcrafted Dickens character will be featured around town, free walking tour available, special events select Saturdays, Kringle's Christmas Village shadowboxes also decorate the town
  • Ongoing: Festival of Lights Cosley Zoo Wheaton; November 24-December 31 3PM-9PM, 20,000 twinkling lights transform the zoo with displays; Christmas tree sale as well; free; closed Christmas Eve and Christmas; check website for specific times (closed days), free but donations appreciated
  • Ongoing: Holiday Festival of Lights, Phillip's Park Zoo, Aurora, drive-thru display, November 24-December 26, Sun-Thurs 5PM-9PM, Fri-Sat 5PM-10PM, free!
  • Ongoing: Holiday Lights Lilacia Park, Lombard, December 2-28, check for special events like train rides, etc., lighting ceremony is Dec 2 5:30PM, Dec 4-18 6PM-8PM, Santa visits on weekends (Fri, Sat, Sun)
  • Ongoing: North School Park, Arlington Heights, November 24-early January (per Village), free!
  • Ongoing: Naper Lights, Naper Settlement, November 24-December 23, Thursdays-Sundays, 4:30PM-7PM, Thursday, 4:30PM-9PM Friday&Saturday, 4:30PM-6PM Sundays, December 18-21 every day 5PM-8PM, free!
  • Ongoing: Rosemont Holiday Lights: Holiday Light Displays including 80,000 lights in Rosemont, November 24-January 4, daily, free, plus enjoy free ice skating (fee for rental)
  • November 29-December 2 The Grove Holiday Store, The Grove, 10AM-5PM, shop for holiday crafts in the Kennicott House, free admission
  • Ongoing: Holiday Magic, Brookfield Zoo, Saturdays & Sundays in Dec, also Dec 26-31, check website for times and prices

  • December 2 Home for the Holidays, Barrington, 10AM-6:30PM, village wide event, ice carving, performances, petting zoo, story times, cookie decorating, Santa and much more, a trolley will help you travel from event to event, free
  • December 2-3 Winter Wonderland, Prairie Lakes Community Center, Des Plaines, 10AM-3PM, hay rides, crafts, characters, model trains, dancing and much more, free
  • December 2 Talons and Claws, Willowbrook, Glen Ellyn, 10AM-3PM, crafts, Santa, raptors, wagon ride and more, free admission but may be small fees for activities
  • December 2-3 Christmas in the Valley, Volkening Heritage Farm Schaumburg, 12PM-4PM, vintage Kris Kringle, crafts, decorating cookie, see how German-American farm families celebrated Christmas, $3 pp
  • December 2 Farmside Christmas, Fischer Farm, Bensenville, 2PM-5PM, hayrides, crafts, hot cocoa, desserts, free event, $7 for pictures for Santa, to ensure photo with Santa must sign up for time slot ahead of time
  • December 2&3 Once Upon a Christmas, The Museums at Lisle Station Park, Lisle, 3PM-8PM Sat, 11AM-4PM Sun, different events each day, ice carving, live reindeer, blacksmithing demos, trolley rides, Lights of Lisle and much more, free
  • December 2 Canadian Pacific Holiday Train Stop in Gurnee at 3:50PM, see website
  • December 2 Celebrate the Season and Mistletoe Market, Cantigny Park, Wheaton, 4PM-7PM, sleigh rides, reindeer, crafts, Santa and more, Mistletoe market is a local artisan market and runs longer 1PM-7PM, free admission, $5 parking, those bring a new toy to donate receive free parking
  • December 2 Holiday Parade of Lights, Naperville, 7PM
