Every building seemed to have something holiday-themed going on. My daughter was eager to decorate and eat a sugar cookie. The reindeer were certainly happy with the special reindeer food she concocted. She also helped make some traditional Springerle cookies. (We even left with the recipe--maybe I should whip it out?) We made a visit to the farmhouse to take in the smells of traditional German food and to sing carols. We watched a toy maker whittle some toys. Then, we took a haywagon shuttle to the Merkle cabin. The cabin greeted us with more holiday cheer. Mini-Mel made a pine cone ornament and met Father Christmas by the fire. Fun and holiday cheer all over! This event is one that just gives you that warm fuzzy feeling and is a great way to kickoff the holiday season. Christmas in the Valley will be held from 12:00PM-4:00PM on Dec. 1 & 2. The farm is located at 201 S. Plum Grove Rd. in Schaumburg. Admission is $2 pp, $8 per family 6 or fewer, $2 each additional person. The weather looks to be warm this year--in the 50's and partly cloudy. Sounds like a great day to get out there and have some holiday fun!

Thanks for visiting me over at RetroGirl blog. We just recently moved away from McHenry County IL and miss some of the fun events like this kind of stuff. I have to admit - I really don't miss the snow though. It was way too much for me. I am enjoying the lack of snow so far this season where we live now. Great blog - will have to check out more!
