A Little Time and a Keyboard: Fun for the Kids, a Breather for Mom at Nibbles' Play Cafe

Fun for the Kids, a Breather for Mom at Nibbles' Play Cafe

Sunday, November 25, 2012

This weekend, we visited Nibbles' Play Cafe in Wheeling. After a week off of school, my daughter really needed a change of scenery. After a week off of school, mom also needed some down time. So, we headed to Nibbles'!

Nibbles' Play Cafe is a place where mom, dad, and the kids all can have a nice time. The Cafe is designed for children 6 and younger. There are not many venues designed specifically for this age set, so this definitely sets Nibbles' Play Cafe apart!

The cafe has several differently-themed play areas. There is an awesome train table, an area to play with cars and little people, a play kitchen serving up delights, a puppet stage ready for a show, a soft playing area for the youngest visitors, an inspiring dress-up area, and a construction zone with a wall where you can set up ramps and tubes for a ball maze. Additionally, there was a cute Thanksgiving inspired craft for the kids with more crafts and games behind the counter available upon request. A ton of fun and play-based stimulation for the little ones!

After we arrived, I settled down in a booth and ordered a pot of Earl Grey. My daughter set about exploring and having fun. I was able to relax a little, read my book, and sip some tea. At Nibbles', you can take a little breather while still being able to see what your little one is up to.

The cafe has an excellent selection of fresh food as well as loose leaf teas and coffee concoctions. Nibbles' has menu items that both intrigue adults as well as ones that kids will easily love. On my visit, I had the toasted bagel with hummus. The sandwich was delicious, complete with large, juicy tomato slices and beautiful greens. This was clearly an adult sandwich! My daughter went for more traditional kid fare--chicken nuggets, pretzels, and  fruit. I love that there are so many healthy options at Nibbles'. There are too many times that I go out and feel horrible about what I have fed my daughter--not at Nibbles'.

Besides providing a fun haven for families, Nibbles' also has programming that kids will love. A number of  beloved characters like Cinderella and Mickey Mouse make special visits. A number of beloved children's entertainers also stop by for special events. Check Nibble's calendar to see their range of events. (Your kids will surely be delighted!)

Nibble's Play Cafe is very community motivated. They have worked with Creatively Caring and other local organizations to make a positive impact in the community. This community feeling carries through to all aspects of Nibbles' Play Cafe. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They really make you feel like you are part of a community.

Nibbles' really is the whole package when it comes to a great business. Wholesome fun for the family, wholesome food to fuel you, and a passion for being part of the community.

Nibbles' Play Cafe is located at 13 Huntington Lane in Wheeling, IL. Admission is $7.50 per child, $3.75 per sibling. Hours are Mon-Sat, 9:00AM-2:00PM. They do host private events on some Sundays.
