A Little Time and a Keyboard: D.O.C. Wine Bar {an elegant evening out}

D.O.C. Wine Bar {an elegant evening out}

Saturday, May 25, 2013

Last week, we were able to sneak away for an evening. One of our favorite places to go when we are sans the little miss is D.O.C. Wine Bar in Lombard. D.O.C. has a refined atmosphere, definitely worthy of a night out. Being a wine bar, D.O.C. does have a nice wine menu. You can order by the glass or bottle. If you are feeling like a little adventure or would like to learn a little more about wine, one of D.O.C.'s wine flights is always fun. Of course, if wine is not your thing, you can also choose a tasty beverage from many alcoholic and non-alcoholic options.

Now, you can get wine flights at other restaurants. In fact, it seems all of the rage. The real thing that keeps us coming back is the butcher's plate. Who can resist an elegant meat and cheese platter? The butcher's plate is perfect for getting together with friends to nosh or even as a dinner. For each butcher's plate, you are able to choose 4 or 8 cheeses, cured meats or bruschettas. My absolute favorite on the butcher's plate--the white bean bruschetta with balsamic reduction and reggiano.

As a bistro, D.O.C. does have many food options. However, the butcher's plate is our favorite treat when visiting D.O.C. We have fun perusing the selections and picking out a unique platter each time.  Plus, it is ideal if you just want something light.

D.O.C. is a fun place to relax, sip some wine, have a bite and enjoy a little conversation. The bar is perfect for unwinding when life gets crazy.

D.O.C. Wine Bar is located at Yorktown Mall.
