A Little Time and a Keyboard: Celebrating Autumn at River Trail Nature Center in Northbrook

Celebrating Autumn at River Trail Nature Center in Northbrook

Thursday, October 23, 2014

Last weekend, we visited River Trail Nature Center for its annual Fall Festival. We were truly in a Fall Wonderland as we discovered the forest floor carpeted with a rainbow of leaves. The day was perfect and colored leaves gracefully fell around us as we walked. Stunning!

The Festival provided a healthy share of family fun with fall color walks, demos of life on the frontier, animal visits, fall food and more! We also took a peek inside of the Nature Center which is home to animal exhibits and an active play area.

If you have not been out to enjoy fall's splendor, I urge you to go this weekend. The colors are fleeting and are the vibrant range of hues that often elude us. Don't let this simple pleasure pass you by! The colors were so brilliant that a number of people were taking pictures including families pictures with a natural backdrop!

We had such a magical experience hiking at River Trail. It isn't often that you can say you walked through a rainbow! Plus, this weekend River Trail will be alive with the Un-haunted Forest on Sunday from 1:30PM-2:30PM. Children are invited to join a costume parade through the forest. The event costs $1 per child and you must register (847-824-8360).  Can you imagine a costume parade with such a glorious background! Beautiful!

River Trail Nature Center is located at 3120 Milwaukee Rd in Northbrook.
